Brooke Burke, the former Dancing with the Stars host and champion, is mourning the loss of her younger brother.
Tommy Burke died in his sleep earlier this week. Brooke Burke announced her family’s heartbreaking news via Instagram. She posted a photo of herself and Tommy with the caption: “I have no words today. (heartbroken) just Tommy Burke 7/19/1977 – 7/20/2021.”
Brooke Burke Remembered Brother in Emotional Post
Brooke Burke also talked about her brother in her Instagram Story.
“To my friends and family, thank you for the loving support,” Brooke Burke wrote. “I humbly need to ask that you please to NOT send me anything, with love and respect it’s not about me… PLEASE transfer any gesture to my brother’s family And the many children he leaves behind.”
Tommy Burke was 44. Among his survivors are 10 children. The family set up a GoFundMe page. In its intro, the family paid tribute to Tommy Burke:
“On Tuesday, July 20, 2021 Tommy Burke, aka Fatcat, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly while sleeping in his home. Throughout his life, Tom brought positivity and laughter to everyone around him, especially his family and friends. He was an artist in every sense of the word: from his witty rap lyrics, to his impressive paintings, woodwork, and professional designs. He is already greatly missed. (And) he leaves behind his wife and 10 kids. This fundraiser is intended to help support them during and after this difficult time.”
Tommy Burke Died Day After His Birthday
Sadly, Tommy Burke celebrated his 44th birthday the day before he died. Burke’s daughter, Neria, posted two photos of her uncle on Instagram Story. She wrote: “Keep your loved ones close. Tell people how much you appreciate them. My heart is feeling extra heavy. I miss your hugs. You always have the best ones,” she added.
And Burke’s daughter Sierra also paid tribute to her Uncle Tommy on social media. The 19-year-old wrote: “Thank you for inspiring me to write music and for bringing love and hope to everyone around you. Time with you was a blessing. Love u uncle tommy. Till we meet again.”
Brooke Burke is a TV host, businesswoman and fitness expert. In 2008, she won season seven of Dancing with the Stars. Derek Hough was her partner. For three of her dances, she scored a 30, meaning each judge awarded her a perfect 10. She was the only competitor to earn even one perfect score. She did it for the foxtrot, Viennese waltz and freestyle.
Burke, 49, won the competition in overwhelming fashion, making her a good choice to work as one of the show’s hosts. She did so from 2010-13. She also worked as host to the Miss America pageant, Rock Star INXS, Rock Star: Super Nova, She’s Got the Look and Hidden Heroes. She’s the mother of four children and is a cancer survivor.
