Former ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Host Tom Bergeron Posts Throwback Clip From One Year Ago Before Firing

A year after Tom Bergeron ended his time on “Dancing With the Stars,” the former judge is fondly looking back on his time on the show. As you’ll recall, the ABC dance competition replaced Bergeron and his longtime co-host Erin Andrew with Tyra Banks.

On July 17, the former host shared a hilarious throwback clip from his time on the show. Going “full mime” to pay for Mark Ballas’ primping products, Bergeron had his followers laughing as he and his former co-star riffed back and forth with one another on his Instagram post.

“Soooo…are you showing this just to make us miss you all over again? Siiiiiiiiiiiigh,” one person wrote in the comments section. Another user shared the same sentiment, “Seeing this really makes me miss him. I still cannot believe they dumped him for Tyra Banks. He was great on DWTS and so funny.”

Both the users agreed that while they loved the show initially, they could no longer watch it since it felt “too different” now. Earlier in July, “DWTS” pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Val Chmerkovskiy confessed their feelings about Bergeron’s departure from the show.

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Pros Weigh In On Bergeron’s Departure

“I think I’m going to say it,” Maksim began. “Is Tom someone that I think was a staple of the show? Yes. Dare I say that I also was a staple of the show and, at some point, may or may not have been thought of as an irreplaceable element? Yeah. […] The reality is, Season 30 is coming up. I haven’t been on for a while and it didn’t get any worse in that department. So I think times keep moving and we keep moving it.”

Val added, “I mean, look, as a person, [Tyra] is A-plus-plus. Behind the cameras, she treats everybody with love and respect, and I think also we’ve yet to know a lot of Tyra because this was also a Zoom type of season.”

When it came to the added pressures of the COVID-19 precautions taken in Season 29, he said, “I think Tyra did a great job. I’m excited to see the job that she does next season after having the opportunity to actually have a real season.”

The brothers are not the first professional dancers to praise the model. His wife and fellow “Dancing With the Stars” pro Jenna Johnson previously said that Banks was “such a gem.” “She is so grateful to be there and you feel it from her energy every time she’s there and interacting with you,” said Johnson.

In addition, professional dancers Derek Hough, Cheryl Burke, and Britt Stewart have also commended Banks for her work on the show.

Season 30 of “Dancing With the Stars” premieres on Monday, September 20 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
