Former Guns ‘N Roses drummer Matt Sorum and his wife, Ace Harper, recently announced that they’re expecting their first child this summer. The couple has been married since 2013 and are both over the moon to be starting a family.

The couple began dating in 2004 and later got engaged in 2011. In 2013 they were married in Palm Springs with a star-studded list of attendees such as Steven Tyler, Juliette Lewis, Jane Lynch, John Stamos, Dave Navarro, and Slash.

“We are beyond elated with God’s gift of our baby girl,” they said in a joint statement. “Of all the beautiful adventures we’ve been fortunate enough to have in our lives, there is nothing that compares to the joy we feel of finally creating our own family. We’re excited to show our child all the wonderful experiences life has to offer.”

Sorum was with the band from 1990 to 1997. He replaced fellow drummer Steven Adler who was with the band from 1985 to 1990. During his time with Guns N Roses, he was featured on popular Guns N Roses albums such as Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II, and The Spaghetti Incident. In 1997, Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose fired Sorum from the band after the two got into an argument over Paul Tobias’ inclusion in the group. However, the two mended their friendship in April of 2006. The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inducted him as a member in April 2012.

Both Harper and Sorum are creative kindred spirits. His 36-year-old wife is a choreographer, singer-songwriter, visual artist, and fashion designer. She began her career as a ballet dancer and spent over a decade as a professional dancer. She’s worked with many music icons such as Lenny Kravitz, Jennifer Lopez, and Duran Duran.

While dancing, she also became an avid songwriter. After saying goodbye to her dance, she began directing her own stage shows with music, performance art, fashion, and visuals. Now, she’s preparing to make another career change as she will launch her fashion line, Ace Harper, this year.
