If you are a fan of crime-based television shows, there is a good chance that you have seen both NCIS and Dexter. If so, you may have noticed that they have one actress in common. That would be Liza Lapira.

There is no denying that television shows based on crime are some of the top-rated in the industry. Take for example NCIS. The show follows a fictional team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. As of 2021, it currently ranks as the second-longest-running scripted, non-animated television show in the United States. Over the years, the popular series has starred the likes of Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette, David McCallum, Sean Murray, Brian Dietzen, Emily Wickersham, Wilmer Valderrama, and more.

On the other end of the spectrum, there are crime shows like that of Showtime’s Dexter. Played by Michael C. Hall, Dexter Morgan is a blood-spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Homicide Department. But that’s just his day job. Dexter also doubles as a serial killer — but he only kills other killers.

While completely different from one another, both shows fall under the same crime umbrella. Fans cheer for the people investigating crimes on NCIS but on Dexter, they cheer for a criminal. Despite their major differences, though, both shows do have one thing in common — actress Liza Lapira.

Who Is Liza Lapira?

First things first, let’s dive into the background of actress Liza Lapira. Even though she may not be a household name, the 39-year-old has definitely been around the block as far as acting goes. That goes for both the film and television industries.

In the movie world, Liza Lapira has made appearances in Cloverfield, Table for Three, and 21. In 2010, she starred alongside Paul Walker in Fast & Furious as Agent Sophie Trinh. In 2010 she played Alva in Repo Men and in 2011 she played a friend of Emma Stone’s character in Crazy, Stupid, Love.

As for her roles in TV shows, that’s where things get even more interesting. Little did fans of crime dramas know that she appeared in both NCIS and Dexter. In NCIS, Lapira played the role of Special Agent Michelle Lee. She is brought in between season three and four to bring the team back up to speed following the departure of Gibbs.

During the same year that she wrapped up her arc on NCIS, Lia Lapira also appeared in Showtime’s Dexter. Her character, Yuki Amado, is an Internal Affairs officer who is investigating detective Joey Quinn. She first comes in during season three of the show.

Sure, Lapira’s time on both shows may have been relatively short, but there’s no denying the fact that they were both significant.
