Former Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney may not be competing any time soon, but that didn’t stop her from working on her fitness.
“Needed a hike,” Maroney wrote in the caption of a photo she shared on her Instagram. In front of a picturesque background, she stood while wearing a shirt that says, “I’m so bad I’m good.”
In the comments, she received different responses, many of which commented on how happy the former Olympian appeared. Others were curious if she was hiking in Topanga Canyon outside of Los Angeles.
McKayla Maroney Uses Social Media As A Way To Connect
Maroney has previously used Instagram as a way to connect with her fans. She recently provided insight into her life change by way of the social media platform. This past Christmas, she posted her only holiday photo, which her family said made her “look uptight.”
In addition to her holiday post, she revealed via Instagram that she had moved into a new home. She explained that, following her father’s tragic death, she had returned to her family home but said she needed a change.
“I have so much good in my life, but I’ve been pretty stressed out lately,” Maroney explained in the caption. “In times of chaos I think it’s a really good opportunity to practice how you react. Choosing peace, silencing your mind, and letting go of what you can’t control, and being realistic, and honest about what you can control.”
Despite the ongoing pandemic, Maroney has been making great use of her time in lockdown. In March 2020, she traded her Olympic gymnast title of singer when she released her first single, “Wake Up Call.”
Since then, Maroney has written and recorded a song about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which she released in April.
The song, appropriately titled “Covid Lockdown,” featuring JIG LeFrost, was announced via Instagram and Twitter posts.
Originally written as a joke, Maroney soon realized that it could comfort others during their quarantine. The fans responded, offering their stamp of approval, saying the song was “fire.”
