If you’ve been wondering if Dr. Frasier Crane ever figured out what to do “with those tossed salads and scrambled eggs” you just might be able to find out very soon.
According to an article on Deadline.com, a reboot of the popular sitcom “Frasier” will be coming to Paramount+ in the future. In addition, actor Kelsey Grammer will be returning to his famous role as the popular radio psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane. Information about the reboot was shared by Julie McNamara. She shared the news when ViacomCBS began the new Paramount+ streaming service.
Grammer is reportedly very happy to be returning to play the popular character.
“Having spent over 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and performing in several, I’d like to congratulate Paramount+ on its entry into the streaming world,” Grammer said. “I gleefully anticipate sharing the next chapter in the continuing journey of Dr. Frasier Crane.”
Executives are also happy to see the series return.
“‘Frasier’ is one of the most acclaimed comedies in modern television history and truly defines premium storytelling,” said David Stapf President of CBS Studios. “There has long been a call from fans for its return, and that call is now answered thanks to the amazing Kelsey Grammer reprising his iconic role of Dr. Frasier Crane and a brilliant creative plan from Joe, Chris and Kelsey. We can’t wait to reveal its next chapter on Paramount+.”
Rest of Cast for ‘Frasier’ Reboot Not Yet Announced
Whether any of the other original members of the “Frasier” cast will be part of the reboot remains to be seen. Deadline is reporting that David Hyde Pierce has been contacted about acting in the reboot. He played Niles, the brother of Frasier. Other cast members from the original cast were Peri Gilpin, Jane Leeves, and John Mahoney. Mahoney passed away in 2018, according to IMDb.com.
Leading the way for the “Frasier” reboot are writers Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli. Harris previously worked on “How I Met Your Mother.” Cristalli wrote for “Life In Pieces.” They will also serve as executive producers alongside Kelsey Grammer. Also, Grammer was reportedly a force in bringing the show back. Producing the show will be CBS Studios and Grammnet Productions.
When the reboot of “Frasier” will be available for streaming on Paramount+ has not been announced. Fans shouldn’t expect the reboot to begin until at least 2022. Grammer will be working with Alec Baldwin on a comedy in the meantime.
“Frasier” originally aired on NBC for 11 seasons. It premiered during 1993 and stayed on the air until 2004, according to IMDb. The show won several awards during its original run. For example, Kelsey Grammer won a Golden Globe Award in 1996 and 2001 for his role as Dr. Frasier Crane.
