While watching the Discovery Channel series, “Gold Rush,” fans watch as their favorite miners do all they can to – obviously – strike gold. The miners battle the land, the elements, and face challenges as they try to make their fortunes.
Thanks to the new spin-off series titled, “Gold Rush: Winter’s Fortune,” viewers will get to watch as the stars battle the freezing temperatures and heavy snows of winter as well, according to Discovery. Needless to say, the chilly winter weather will add to the drama.
“Winter’s Fortune” will follow miners Tony Beets, Rick Ness, Dave Turin, Fred Lewis and Dustin Hurt between the usual mining seasons, according to TV Insider. This is the “high-stakes gambles of the gold-mining offseason.”
Not only will the miners be prospecting during the cold winter months, but they will also be looking ahead. As part of their preparations for another warm season, they will also be looking for other lands they can prospect. They will need to purchase land and get permits to mine before the next season starts. Because of the increased price of gold, finding land is more of a challenge than before.
Individual Miners Will Have Their Own Goals in Upcoming ‘Gold Rush’ Spinoff
While finding gold is the goal of the men on “Winter’s Fortune,” they will also have other individual goals in mind during the “Winter’s Fortune” spin-off. For example, miner Tony Beets will reportedly spend millions of dollars in order to overhaul the machinery he uses. This is said to be a “risky” move.
Also, “Winter’s Fortune” will show Dave Turin really focus on his search for new land to prospect. Viewers can also expect to watch as Fred Lewis, new to the “Gold Rush” game, encourages his family and fellow military veterans to come with him as he tries to find gold. Dustin Hurt will face a lot of stress as he fears that landslides in Haines may have ruined his chances of finding gold.
Discovery promises that this new spinoff series is “unlike any before.” “The competition has begun and the race to hit the big one is in motion. Who’s going to end up on top. How are they going to overcome these subpar temperatures? Who’s going to take the gold?” the network said in a promotional article for the spinoff.
“Winter’s Fortune” will debut on Friday, July 30. It will air at 8 p.m. ET on the Discovery Channel. It will also be available for streaming on discovery+.
This is just one of several “Gold Rush” spinoff series. Others include “Gold Rush: Freddy Dodge’s Mine Rescue,” “Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine,” “Gold Rush: Parker’s Trail,” “Gold Rush: White Water,” “Gold Rush: The Jungle,” and “Gold Rush: South America.”
