For 11 seasons, fans have watched ambitious miners find new and creative ways to pull gold from the ground on “Gold Rush.”

Each season brings new machines and even higher stakes. And all the miners can do is work hard and hope that the big risks lead to even bigger payouts. But nothing is guaranteed in the mining business. That’s especially the case when winter comes around and the crew faces even harsher conditions including subfreezing temperatures and frozen ground.

And this winter, “Gold Rush” fans will get to watch their favorite stars navigate it all in the new spinoff series, “Winter’s Promise.” The show follows Tony Beets, Rick Ness, Dave Turin, Fred Lewis and Dustin Hurt as they prospect through winter while searching for land to purchase and permit in preparation for a big haul in the spring. All the while, the crew deals with fierce competition. They know that whoever gets the best mining grounds will bring the biggest gold hauls. So, the pressure is on.

Here’s What Rick Ness Is Most Excited About For ‘Gold Rush: Winter’s Promise’

So, what are “Gold Rush” cast members most excited about for the upcoming spinoff series? Rick Ness, shared his thoughts during a recent interview.

“There’s a mixture of things I’m excited for,” said Ness. “Everybody knows what we do during the gold mining season. We’re up here working our tails off, and that’s about all we got time for.”

However, Ness says that during the wintertime, there’s a little more time for fun. And he’s looking forward to audiences seeing a different side of him and his crew.

“In the wintertime, there’s still a lot of work to be done, prep work and stuff, but I think people can see that me and my crew, we definitely like to have a lot of fun,” said Ness. “There’s a good mix of that in there.”

Ness added he equates traveling for work with a long road trip with friends.

“It’s basically a big, long road trip with [my crew]. I kind of trick them into thinking we’re having this big, long, fun road trip, which is a lot of fun, but we mix a lot of business in there as far as prepping for this season,” said Ness. “We mix a lot of fun in there, too.”

The “Gold Rush” star added that he’s most excited about fans seeing something they never have before: the crew while they aren’t mining.

“We do a bunch of racing and things like that,” said Ness. “Overall, people are going to get a glimpse of something they haven’t seen before, basically what we’re doing when we’re not mining.”

We’ll definitely tune in for some “Gold Rush” shenanigans! “Gold Rush: Winter’s Promise” is scheduled to premiere on Friday, June 30 at 8 p.m. Eastern, on both Discovery and Discovery+.
