‘Gold Rush’ Star Parker Schnabel Revealed Who He Battled with in Filming of Special: ‘Don’t Really Like the Guy’

The life of a gold miner may seem amazing, but it’s not without some major obstacles as Gold Rush star Parker Schnabel pointed out.

Being on the trek of gold discovery is exciting, to say the least. Life-changing money is, of course, a tantalizing reward, but the mere adventure of it all seems just as incredible. That being said, there’s no question that the line of work requires tons of hours, especially on the road.

That’s not to mention that strong personalities can clash. Parker Schnabel knows this well. The Gold Rush star has basically been raised in the industry thanks to his grandfather. However, in the first special of the spin-off series called Parker’s Trail, it wasn’t a fellow miner that was an issue.

It was the cameraman.

In an interview with People, Schnabel revealed that his relationship with James Levelle, the primary filmer of his adventure special, was an issue.

“James and I got into it quite a bit,” Schnabel said. “I just don’t really like the guy. I thought I did before this all really started.”

On top of that, Schnabel adds a clarifier to show exactly how bad it got.

“I haven’t spoken to him almost since it ended.”

Sheesh. Schnabel and the Gold Rush stars have a reputation for being honest, but that’s an extra step.

Why Gold Rush Star Parker Schnabel Fought With Levelle

As with his competitors and coworkers on Gold Rush, Schnabel says the issues with Levelle came through personalities.

While a trek through Alaskan wilderness could certainly cause its own issues, it wasn’t the journey. It also wasn’t the fact that they had to film the project. Instead, it was just purely due to different personalities. At least, that’s what Schnabel says.

“It had nothing to do with the TV side of it, our personalities just didn’t quite jive,” he says. “It comes out a little bit on the show, but with something like this, it’s hard to get it on camera and that’s not my priority. But James and I had quite a few issues. I had a real problem with some of the things that he did.”

According to the interview, the two men had known each other for years.

While Parker Schnabel doesn’t detail exactly what Levelle did that caused the issues, it’s clear that it was no small matter. To hold on to that, and also be public about said issues makes it clear that whatever happened was a big deal for the Gold Rush star.

Either way, the trek is behind him and fans can watch all of the Parker’s Trail episode on Discovery+. Schnabel says you can see the issues come out in the final product, do you see what he’s talking about?
