‘Gone Girl’ Actor Lisa Banes Death: Suspect Charged Over Hit-and-Run Crash

Police charged suspect Brian Boyd in the hit-and-run crash that took the life of “Gone Girl” actor Lisa Banes.

Police arrested Boyd, 26, in the death of the 65-year-old woman on Thursday. The West Side Rag said that officers recognized him from a wanted poster and picked him up in the lobby of his building at 90 Amsterdam Avenue.

In early June, NYC police said Boyd left the scene of a June 4 accident resulting in the death of Lisa Barnes and did not yield to a pedestrian.

Police said the scooter ran a light, and Lisa Banes had a walk sign and was in the crosswalk.

The West Side Rag said Banes was visiting New York City from Los Angeles when she hit in the accident. She was reportedly there to see her alma mater, Juilliard, at nearby Lincoln Center.

Her manager, David Williams, said that she was close to the Mt. Sinai Morningside Hospital and emergency officials took her there.

She suffered a traumatic brain injury in the crash. She died on July 14.

‘Gone Girl’ Actor Lisa Banes Was An Acting Veteran

A veteran of television and movies, Lisa Banes was in “Gone Girl” in 2014 and “Cocktail” with Tom Cruise in 1988. Other TV roles included “Nashville,” “Madam Secretary,” “Masters of Sex,” and “NCIS.”

“Her stage presence, magnetism, skill, and talent were matched only by her unwavering kindness and graciousness toward all of us. A tremendous loss…,” actor Seth McFarlane, who worked alongside Banes on his television series “The Orville,” said on Twitter.

According to the New York Post, singer Jill Sobule sais the news “busted” her.

“Lisa Banes was magnificent, hilarious, and big-hearted – always helped me though [sic] the hard times,” she Tweeted.

Julie White, a former castmate and longtime friend, said she had high hopes that the spirited Banes would pull through from her coma.

“I just didn’t imagine that she wouldn’t get out of this. She was such an indomitable person,” White told The Post.

Another friend, Cynthia Crossen, said Lisa Banes was as “close to a perfect person as I’ve ever known.”

“She was very, very friendly and very loyal to her friends. If you made a friend with her, you made a friend for life,” Crossen told The Post.

“She was warm and generous and kind and beautiful and funny and the life of the party but also sympathetic and empathetic.”

Lisa Banes’s manager followed the same feelings.

“We are heartsick over Lisa’s tragic and senseless passing,” Williams told NBC News. “She was a woman of great spirit, kindness, and generosity, and dedication to her work. We were blessed to have had her in our lives.”

Her wife, Kathryn Kranhold, survives her. Police did not say whether Boyd had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
