Actress Jodie Foster is a big Green Bay Packers fan. And now she’s got a little friendly competition going with Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The public competition to out-thank each other began this February. First, Rodgers thanked Foster – who is well-known for her love of the Packers – in his NFL Most Valuable Player acceptance speech.

Then Foster went on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and vowed to thank Rodgers back if she won a Golden Globe. On Sunday, the actress won Best Supporting Actress for “The Mauritanian.”

In her acceptance speech, Foster thanked Rodgers. She also thanked her wife Alex and dog Ziggy and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the group that votes on the Golden Globe Awards.

Now, in virtual backstage comments to reporters, Foster has shared that Aaron Rodgers said he’s going to thank her back.

“Not only am I huge Green Bay Packers fan, but I am MVP,” Foster said in a video clip posted by the Associated Press. “I am competitive MVP with Aaron Rodgers. Yes, I am a huge Packers fan. And in fact, I just got a very cute video from Aaron Rodgers, where he says he’s gonna get me back. So I’m looking forward to this. We’ll see who wins.”

In the comments to reporters, Foster also made clear that it was not her who introduced Rodgers to his current fiancée, Shailene Woodley. The actress co-starred in “The Mauritanian” with Foster.

“I have never met Aaron Rodgers, but it is possible that I do like to talk about how much I love the Green Bay Packers,” Foster explained. “Sometimes I can talk a little bit too much about that, so of course Shailene was very aware of my enthusiasm for the team.”

Rodgers had a busy 2020, acquiring a fiancée and earning the MVP award for his football skills.

“2020 was definitely a crazy year,” Rodgers said in his MVP acceptance speech. “Filled with lots of change, growth, some amazing, memorable moments. 180 straight days of having my nose hairs scraped. Playing for very little fans or no fans the entire season. I got engaged, and I played some of the best football of my career.”

The competition with Foster adds just one more memorable moment to Rodgers’ 2021.
