Gwen Stefani paid tribute to her friend on Friday when she shared a heartfelt post remembering him.

The singer wrote an emotional message on Instagram to thank her songwriting colleague, Busbee, for everything he did for her prior to his death.

The 43-year-old music producer tragically died last year, leaving his family behind.

On social media, The No Doubt singer shared a photo of Busbee alongside his wife and three daughters. She accompanied the beautiful message with a tribute to her friend.

“Hi puppies !!” she wrote. “Merry Christmas today is my first official day off for Christmas – need to shout out my genius beautiful friend @busbee who wrote my christmas record with me.”

“He was going to be my future partner in crime in writing songs but he went to heaven – love u @busbee so much – miss u deeply- my Christmas record is one of my most prized possessions cause of u – gosh i miss u – thank u God for introducing us.

Thank u to u guys for making #yourmakeitfeellikechristmas gold!! see u up there @busbee if i’m lucky !! working on it!!! gx”

Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton Share Heartbreak on Social Media

Stefani worked with Busbee on her recent Holiday record, You Make it Feel Like Christmas, in which he served as the album’s executive producer.

Many people in the songwriting industry knew Michel Busbee by his last name. Tragedy struck the Busbee family when he passed away after a battle with brain cancer in September 2019.

Following his death, both Shelton and Stefani made heartfelt tributes to their longtime friend.

“I absolutely can’t accept the loss of mine and Gwen Stefani’s friend Michael Busbee” Shelton tweeted at the time. “Too much to say for social media. Too much pain and unfairness period. I guess sometimes you gotta dig extra EXTRA deep for peace to continue to have faith. And I will because Michael ALWAYS had faith.”

Along with Shelton, Stefani was also full of devastation over the loss of the music producer.

“Beyond broken today,” She wrote on Instagram. “Shattered. @blakeshelton thank you for introducing me to this legend we are going to miss our friend. See you up there Busbee. #Genius #ILOVEUANDUKNOWIT Gx .”
