If there’s anything that newlyweds Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani love, it’s a surprise.
The two surprised everyone with a secret wedding on July 3. It was a small and intimate wedding that only included close friends and family, as well as Carson Daly as the officiant. The duo only shared the news that they were married after the ceremony was wrapped up.
Now, the newlywed couple surprised patrons at Shelton’s Ole Red restaurant located in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. The two performed an amazing acoustic set together. When the two arrived at the restaurant, Shelton went to introduce his wife to the crowd.
He happened to use her maiden name instead, to which Stefani quickly quipped. “I thought it was Gwen Shelton now!” In an adorable moment, Shelton’s face broke out in a massive grin before letting out his trademark laugh.
It’s unclear if Gwen Stefani is taking on his last name, or if that was just a bit of sweet couple joking. In 2002, the No Doubt singer changed her name to Gwen Stefani Rossdale when she married Gavin Rossdale. She filed for a name change in 2016 after the pair finalized their divorce.
It’s likely that she will tack on the name Shelton after Stefani. As a pop star and household name, completely changing her last name seems like an unlikely move. Her Instagram account doesn’t include “Shelton” anywhere.
Regardless of name changes or maiden names, the pair looks insanely in love. According to People, they performed their two duets — “Happy Anywhere” and “Nobody But You.” Shelton and the band also backed Stefani for her old throwback pop hit, “Don’t Speak.”
Shelton gave his fans a tease on social media when he said he would be stopping by to rehearse a set for an upcoming show. He wrote, “It may not be good but at least it’s free!” Fans instantly lined up outside Ole Red Tishomingo, despite only having a few hours as notice.
This surprise performance was their first time out-and-about since becoming a married couple. The couple has gifted fans several different duets since making their relationship official years ago. That includes their first joint single “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” in 2016. Then the next year the couple released “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.”
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani ‘CMA Summer Jam’
The newlyweds will make another appearance to perform again very soon. They are scheduled to perform at the “CMA Summer Jam” on July 27 and 28.
According to the Tennessean, the incredible star-studded lineup includes Luke Bryan, Carly Pearce, Miranda Lambert, Luke Combs, Mickey Guyton, Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood, and Dierks Bentley.
The two-day event is happening in downtown Nashville at the Ascend Amphitheater. ABC is also airing a three-hour Summer Jam special later this summer as well.
