Happy Birthday Kid Rock: Relive the Rockstar’s Best Moments

Kid Rock is celebrating his 50th birthday today. Relive his best moments during his music career, below.

His Music Career

Rock’s found early success with “Bawitdaba.” The 1998 release featured numerous influences ranging from rock to grunge and metal. The title is a made-up word that has no true meaning. The track was featured on his fourth record, Devil Without a Cause. Rock’s first top ten hit in any genre was “Cowboy.” He seemingly founded the ‘bro-country hick hop” movement with this release.

In 2002, “Picture” featuring Sheryl Crow was born. Ironically, Crow was the second woman to be featured on the track. Crow’s label, A&M, was disputing with Rock’s label, Atlantic. So Allison Moorer recorded her take on the song. It was released as a single but Crow’s version was released on the album. Crow was also featured in the music video. With this in mind, when the song charted on Billboard they used “featuring Allison Moorer or Sheryl Crow.” In 2010, Rock released “Collide” with Crow and Bob Seger. The single was featured on his 2010 album, Born Free.

Overall, “All Summer Long” is likely Rock’s most notable and successful song. It perfectly sums up the feeling of summertime and relaxation. It charted No. 1 in the U.K. and No. 23 in the U.S. The song reached the Top 40 on both the rock and country charts. This was also the official theme song for WWE’s Backlash pay-per-view in 2008.

His Collabs

Kid Rock is known for his collaborations. The rocker worked with Willie Nelson on the live version of “Shotgun Willie” which was featured on his 2004’s Outlaws & Angels record. Somewhat surprisingly, he worked with Martina McBride on “Care.” McBride first worked with Rock during a concert where she performed Crow’s part of the “Picture” duet.

Aside from “Picture,” Crow and Rock also teamed up for the “Run Off to L.A.” in 2003. Thirdly, they released “Collide” in 2010. As unlikely as the pairing may be, their voices sound amazing together. Rock also sounds incredible with Zac Brown Band on “Flyin’ High.” A simplistic country song that’s an ode to the greatest things that life has to offer.

Kid Rock and Loretta Lynn

Remember when Rock and Loretta Lynn got married? Lynn’s son Ernie had a vow renewal ceremony when Loretta and Rock were put on the spot. Nonetheless, the pair always joked about getting married, and they held a fake ceremony to prove their love.

“Things got crazy then–my boy @kidrock was there and we’ve always teased about getting ourselves married,” Lynn wrote. “Well, the preacher was already there so we had some fun with it. Sorry girls, he’s taken now!”

Kid Rock and His Bar

Rock has his own bar on Broadway in Nashville, Tennessee. It opened in late 2018 and has been a huge success. Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse also features five levels, live music, a restaurant, and a bar. Additionally, it offers stunning televisions on every floor for sports fanatics.
