‘Happy Days’: Christopher Knight of ‘The Brady Bunch’ Once Appeared as Joanie’s Boyfriend

“The Brady Bunch” might have made Christopher Knight famous, however, it was not the only classic sitcom that is listed on his filmography. He also appeared in an episode of “Happy Days.”

According to MeTV, the Peter Brady actor had a role in the “Happy Days” episode titled, “Be My Valentine.”

He played the character Binky Hodges – a boyfriend of Joanie Cunningham – in the appearance. Playing Joanie as always was Erin Moran. Joanie was the daughter of Mr. Howard Cunningham (played by Tom Bosley) and Mrs. Marion Cunningham (played by Marion Ross) and the brother of Richie (played by Ron Howard).

The “Be My Valentine” episode of “Happy Days” aired on – you guessed it – Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14) in 1978. This was four years after the original television run of “The Brady Bunch” came to an end. That show was on the air from 1969 until 1974.

Since this was the popular sitcom’s Valentine’s Day episode, love was in the air. One of its plotlines followed Joanie as she gives a card to Binky. Of course, he accepts it. Then, he asked her to go with him to Inspiration Point.

“Be My Valentine” was the 20th episode of the fifth season of “Happy Days.” During the episode, there is a nod to its director, Jerry Paris. In it, Marion Cunningham mentions the name Jerry Helper after she and Howard Cunningham attend a holiday dinner party. When Jerry Paris appeared on “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” the character he played was named Jerry Helper.

In addition to his role on “Happy Days,” the now 63-year-old Christopher Knight also had roles in other television shows. These included “Gunsmoke,” “One Day at a Time,” “The Bionic Woman,” “CHiPs,” “Another World,” “The Love Boat,” and “That 70s Show.”

Many Other Famous Actors Appeared on ‘Happy Days’ – Including Another Star of ‘The Brady Bunch’

Another one of the stars of “The Brady Bunch” also had a role in a “Happy Days” episode. This role went to Marcia Brady actress Maureen McCormick. She was in an episode titled “Cruisin” and played a character named Hildie. This character was one of the girls Richie, Ralph, and Potsie flirt with as they are driving in a station wagon.

Christopher Knight and Maureen McCormick were not the only famous faces who appeared in episodes of “Happy Days” while it was on the air from 1974 until 1984. There were several others. These included Tom Hanks, Robin Williams, Tony Randall, “Bonanza” star Lorne Greene, Jeff Conway of “Grease” and “Taxi” fame, as well as Danny Thomas, Harvel Keitel, and Morgan Fairchild.

Famously, Robin Williams appeared as the alien Mork in “Happy Days.” His work on the show led to the famous spinoff, “Mork and Mindy.”
