‘Harry Potter’ Star Tom Felton’s Friend Gives Update After Actor’s Collapse at Ryder Cup

Tom Felton, the “Harry Potter” actor who collapsed at the Ryder Cup yesterday, is doing “okay” according to his friend, Derek Pitts.

According to Fox News, Pitts posted an update on the star’s condition to his Instagram Stories. Pitts wrote, “He’s okay” followed by “Speedy recovery brother.”

Felton is best known for playing Draco Malfoy, the character we love to hate, in the iconic “Harry Potter” series. The actor attended the Ryder Cup Thursday to participate in a celebrity round of golf that took place before today’s international competition.

On the 18th hole of the course, Felton suddenly collapsed. Several people nearby rushed to help him, eventually placing him on a stretcher to be taken away in a golf cart.

“In today’s Ryder Cup Celebrity Match, actor and musician Tom Felton experienced a medical incident on the course while participating for Europe,” the PGA of America said in a statement. “He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No further details are available.”

We’re not sure what caused that “medical incident,” but we’re glad to hear he’s recovering well. Aside from Felton, several stars also competed in the Celebrity Match. Toni Kukoc, Mandy Rose, Mike Eruzione, Stephanie Szostak, Dan Jansen, A.J. Hawk, Alessandro Del Piero, and Kelly Slater all made appearances.

Before things took a turn, Felton’s Team Europe made a bold impression on fans. It catered to the tournament’s location in Kohler, Wisconsin.

Team Europe Sports Awesome Cheeseheads on Entrance to Ryder Cup

Welcome to Wisconsin. Team Europe entered the Ryder Cup in style, sporting the iconic cheeseheads that Wisconsinites are well-known for. According to the team’s official Twitter account, it sounds like the Green Bay Packers hooked them up with the sweet headgear.

“Getting the locals onside,” the team captioned a video of their epic entrance. Check out the continental cheeseheads for yourself below.

To make things even better, the golfers soon signed their cheeseheads and threw them into the audience. Who knew golf could be such a rousing sport for fans? They scrambled to try and grab the cheeseheads as they floated into the stands.

Maybe they’ll work as a lucky charm for Team Europe too, though the golfers don’t need it. Europe’s won 7 out of the last 10 Ryder Cup matches, including the last 4 out of 5. The U.S. clinched a victory back in 2016 but hasn’t won since.

The three-day tournament kicked off this morning, at 8 a.m. EST. The golfers will continue to play until 7 p.m. tonight, followed by two more full days on Saturday and Sunday. You can watch the Ryder Cup on Peacock, the NBC streaming service, or on the Golf Chanel if you have cable.
