Helen Mirren sure knows how to leave a strong impression. The actress recently appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” from her bathtub, where she was covered in soap bubbles.

Mirren’s gambit elicited a delighted response from Fallon, who praised the Oscar winner for her daring.

“You are the greatest, ever!” Fallon exclaimed. “Oh my god. That is the greatest. Oh my goodness. I love you.”

“I’m in my favorite place in the world,” Mirren said calmly.

“You might be the first guest ever to be in a bathtub on ‘The Tonight Show,’” Fallon informed her.

“Well, you know, that’s the brilliant thing about Zoom,” Mirren explained. “I was thinking, you know, ‘Why not be in the place that you love to sit and chat to people?’ I love having a chat to my husband while I’m sitting in the bath. So why not do it to the whole of America?”

Helen Mirren Says She Grew Up in a ‘Financially Impoverished’ Household

Mirren, 75, is the daughter of a working-class English mother and a Russian-born civil servant father, per IMDb. And she says she had to work hard to earn everything she has in life.

“I come from not a working-class situation, but certainly a financially impoverished one,” Mirren recently said, according to Celebretainment. “We didn’t have a television when I was growing up or a washing machine or a car, but the one thing my parents taught me – and it was very important for me as a woman – was ‘You must become financially independent.’”

Mirren explained that she became financially secure separately from her marriage to her husband, Taylor Hackford, in 1997.

“When I became an actress, it was very important to me to become financially secure, and I have always worked,” she said. “And I am now financially independent, and I did it myself. Nobody helped me. I take great pride and pleasure in that.”

Mirren added that she and Hackford love and admire each other, and they share a mutual loyalty and understanding. The couple spent the pandemic quarantining together at their home, and their marriage emerged stronger for it, Mirren said.
