Ree Drummond might go by the moniker Pioneer Woman, but Queen of the Country Kitchen might be more fitting. On her show, she welcomes her fans into the kitchen of her sprawling Oklahoma ranch. Once there, she shows off her cooking skills by whipping up some of the tastiest-looking dishes on television. Usually, those meals are just for a normal day with family on the ranch. According to Fox News, Ree Drummond has several Thanksgiving favorites. Some of them are down-home classics, as you would expect. For instance, the Pioneer Woman loves her cornbread dressing and mashed potatoes. Additionally, she makes homemade cranberry sauce. Because of course, she does. Could you imagine someone with her love for cooking and level of skill breaking out the Ocean Spray for Thanksgiving?

Fans of Ree Drummond know that she isn’t shy about her love of sweets. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that one of her favorite dishes is a dessert. The Pioneer Woman’s favorite Thanksgiving sweet is her homemade Nantucket cranberry pie.

Ree Drummond would be the first to tell you that you can never go wrong with a good dessert. Additionally, she likes to think outside the box. Those two things led her to make this Nantucket cranberry pie. Some might know it as simply Nantucket pie.

Ree Drummond shared her recipe for the dish on her official website. It looks pretty simple. However, it quickly becomes obvious that it isn’t a pie. It’s more like a cake with a layer of cranberries at the bottom. About the dish, the Pioneer Woman said, “I’ve been wanting to try this version of cranberry ‘pie’ for a while because anytime I see a photo of one of these babies, I always think ‘that isn’t pie. That’s cake’.”

Drummond explained what drew her to Nantucket cranberry pie. “I love doing, trying, thinking, speaking, and eating things that make absolutely no sense.” However, she adds, her fans probably already know that about her.

To make Ree Drummond’s Thanksgiving dessert, you start by placing a heaping helping of cranberries at the bottom of a cake or pie pan. Then, you mix up a pretty basic cake batter and pour it over the berries. Pop it in the oven and let it bake. Then, a few minutes before it’s done, sprinkle with sugar for a little bit of crunch on the “crust”.
