It’s not always easy growing up as the child of a world-famous star. No one knows that quite like Lucie Arnaz, the daughter of I Love Lucy star Lucille Ball.

It goes without saying that Lucille Ball was one of the most popular stars of the 1950s. She, of course, played the leading role of Lucy Ricardo on the classic sitcom I Love Lucy. The show also starred Ball’s real-life husband, and Lucie Arnaz’s father, Desi Arnaz, along with Vivian Vance and William Frawley.

The hit show spanned a total of six seasons (180 episodes) and became the most-watched show in the United States in four of its six seasons. Not only that but I Love Lucy has also been translated into dozens of languages, allowing it to gain worldwide recognition. Even still to this day, the show remains popular with an American audience of approximately 40 million each year.

So, in a way, it only makes sense that when people talk to Lucie Arnaz, they tend to bring up her world-famous parents. Arnaz once actually expressed some light-hearted frustration about that in a 2016 sit-down with Cape Cod Times.

When asked if there was a question that she has never been asked, Arnaz had an interesting response.

“There probably isn’t one. But, I may never have done a single interview where I was not asked more questions about my parents than myself. It would be nice to have that happen someday. Hey, maybe it just did?!”

Daughter of ‘I Love Lucy’ Star Has a Successful Career of Her Own

It couldn’t have been easy to grow up in the shadow of the one and only Lucille Ball. The I Love Lucy star was an icon and one of the most popular figures of her time. But her daughter, Lucie Arnaz, has had an extremely successful show business career in her own right.

As a matter of fact, Lucie Arnaz has a combined five decades in the industry. That experience comes in the form of television, film, and even on Broadway. But she got her start thanks to the success of her mother. The two starred together on “The Lucy Show” and “Here’s Lucy” — follow-ups to the original I Love Lucy. And after stints on her mother’s shows, Arnaz moved to her own “The Lucie Arnaz Show.”

As time went on, however, Lucie Arnaz began to get more recognition on her own. She made appearances in Who Is the Black Dahlia and The Jazz Singer, the latter of which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. And by the time she was 28 years old, she had made it to Broadway, starring in the musical They’re Playing Our Song. That’s where she met her husband of more than 40 years, Larry Luckinbill.
