‘I Love Lucy’: Upcoming Biopic With Nicole Kidman Will Reveal ‘Big Event’ That ‘Most People Don’t Know’

Nicole Kidman will be playing the real Lucille Ball, not the one we see on television, in her new movie Being the Ricardos.

Undoubtedly, Nicole Kidman is a world-class actress. She’s starred in films including, Australia, Before I Go To Sleep, Moulin Rouge, and Bombshell. Additionally, she has Best Actress Awards from the Academy Awards, Golden Globes and several others organizations.

Now, Kidman will portray a Hollywood icon as she steps into the life of I Love Lucy’s Lucille Ball. During an interview, the film’s director, Aaron Sorkin talks about the movie as well as Lucile Ball’s relationship with her husband, Desi Arnaz.

“They have a very complicated, fascinating relationship,” said Sorkin. “The movie takes place in one production week of I Love Lucy, [from] the Monday table read to Friday audience taping. There are flashbacks that show how the two of them got together and how I Love Lucy finally happened,” said Sorkin.

Sorkin then hints at a major event that takes place in the film that even the most dedicated Lucile Ball fans aren’t likely to know about.

“But mostly it takes place during this week where, I don’t want to be coy, but a big event occurs that I think most people don’t know about when they think about Lucille Ball,” Sorkin revealed.

We can’t wait to see how Nicole Kidman portrays this major event.

Nicole Kidman’s Character ‘Isn’t Lucy Ricardo, It’s Lucille Ball’

With the name of the film being, Being the Ricardos, you might think that the film is about the couple’s roles on the show. However, Sorkin was quick to point out that the film isn’t about the character that Lucile Ball played on I Love Lucy. It’s about who she was in real life.

“The number one thing that makes Nicole Kidman the right person for this part is she’s a world-class actress.” Sorkin said. “She’s phenomenal. The role isn’t Lucy Ricardo. It’s Lucille Ball. There are moments throughout the film where we see little shards of I Love Lucy. And so she’ll be doing her best Lucy Ricardo there. But the meat of the role is not Lucy Ricardo.”

Although Being The Ricardos doesn’t have a release date yet, it’s likely that the film will be released sometime next year. Nicole Kidman is playing Lucy and Javier Bardem is playing Desi Arnaz.
