Jamie Lee Curtis Wants to Be ‘The Voice of the Devil’ in ‘Exorcist’ Trilogy

From “Activia” yogurt commercials to Disney Flicks (“Freaky Friday”) and horror movies, Jamie Lee Curtis continues to showcase her talents across a wide range of genres. Nowadays, many recognize the star as some sort of horror aficionado. She does have several creepy credits to her name, after all. There’s “Halloween,” “The Fog,” and “Prom Night,” just to name a couple. And you have to mention the newly released “Halloween Kills” from David Gordon Green as well.

She’s more than earned her title as a “Scream Queen.” And that’s exactly why Jamie Lee Curtis wants to be “the voice of the Devil” in the upcoming “Exorcist” Trilogy revamp. Read on to hear more about her thoughts on the horror genre and why she thinks she’s a perfect fit for the role.

Jamie Lee Curtis Says an ‘Exorcist’ Role Would Be ‘Full Circle’

David Gordon Green recently announced an upcoming “Exorcist” Trilogy revamp starring Leslie Odom Jr. and Ellen Burstyn. Well, Jamie Lee Curtis just threw her name into the ring as well. Curtis says she wants to portray the demon responsible for possessing Linda Bair’s Regan in the original ’73 work by William Friedkin. (Oscar-winner Mercedes McCambridge originally voiced that role.) The reason behind Curtis’ interest in the role actually happens to come from her childhood.

“I’m brave, but I am afraid of scary things,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “When I was 15, my parents [legendary actors Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis] screened The Exorcist and my friends teased me the next day because I was so freaked out. I loathe being scared by scary movies…You see, if David gives me a part in the new Exorcist trilogy as the voice of the devil, then it is a full-circle return for me, in a meta way. That would blow people’s minds.”

Green actually responded to that statement later saying the two hadn’t discussed it yet, but it piqued his interest. “I’ll have to get her to audition for that one. You know, she did the crying baby for the last Halloween movie, so she’s a talented voice actor as well.”

What She Stole From the ‘Halloween Kills’ Set

Jamie Lee Curtis recently sat down with LADbible for a hilariously unhinged interview answering fan questions. She started off the interview by admitting she’s actually a “hater” of most horror films. She also revealed what one item she collects from the set of every movie she’s ever worked on.

Apparently, she has a special affinity for the slates/clapper boards. You know, those things that directors clap together when they yell “cut?” Curtis says she started collecting them from the original “Halloween” set and kept the tradition going since. You can watch the full interview here.
