Popular country artist Jason Isbell took to social media on Saturday night to answer a question posed by one of his many fans.

There’s a lot to like about the country music star, Isbell. He’s exceptionally talented, a great husband and father, and hilarious. It’s an added bonus that the singer-songwriter engages with his fans and followers via Twitter.

One follower was lucky enough to have Isbell respond to his tweet. The fan mentioned Isbell in his message and asked “What’s your favorite 90s band? @JasonIsbell?”

The country singer responded with a message that was short, sweet, and to the point.

“Old 97’s is the only one I can think of right now,” Isbell said in reply to the fan.

Old 97’s is an alternative country band out of Dallas, Texas. Formed in 1993, the band has since released twelve studio albums, two full extended plays, shared split duty on another, and have one live album. Their most recent release is Twelfth. They are widely recognized as pioneers of the alt-country movement during the mid-to-late 1990s.

Not the First Time Jason Isbell Has Responded to Fans

Learning about Jason Isbell’s favorite band from the ’90s isn’t the first time he’s interacted with fans. He has recently sent replies to a few fan questions about his relationship with his music. Several fans wanted to know if he listens to his own music or reviews of his music. He answers the questions in the same general way as usual… “only the good ones.”

Jason Isbell gave a similar response when asked if he listens to his own music. He says that he only listens to his own music on certain occasions. For instance, he listens to his own music when he is “working on or approving it” for release. Similarly, the country star says he will occasionally go back and listen to an old project to see if he’s “still the same person.”

As you may have guessed, there are actually very few “bad reviews” of Isbell’s music. This, of course, is because of the fact that Jason Isbell doesn’t put out bad music. Isbell’s 2020 album Reunions landed a spot on Billboards Top Albums of the Year. He made the list along with other well-known names like Chris Stapleton and Bruce Springsteen.

Jason Isbell has without a doubt continued to make good music in 2020. Despite the difficult circumstances that have made up 2020, artists such as Isbell continue to find ways to turn it into great music. In fact, the hard times have reminded him of why he makes music in the first place.
