Jennifer Lawrence said she walked away from the Republican party after the election of President Donald Trump. The Oscar-winning actress went on the “Absolutely Not Podcast” recently to discuss her break-up with the GOP.

The Kentucky native told host Heather McMahan that she could “see the benefits of Republican policies,” but that her personal beliefs “weren’t in line” with the party’s more conservative social stances, Vulture reported. She voted for John McCain in 2008. “I was a little Republican,” she said.

“When Donald Trump got elected, that just changed everything,” Lawrence said. “This is an impeached president who’s broken many laws and refused to condemn white supremacy and it feels there’s been a line drawn in the sand.”

She’s referring to the first debate between Trump and Democrat Joe Biden. Moderator Chris Wallace of Fox News asked the president to denounce white supremacists and condemn far-right groups such as the Proud Boys. He failed to do so. Though he did denounce both a few days later, the New York Post said.

Lawrence endorsed Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris earlier this month.

Lawrence Reflects on Obama

During the podcast, Lawrence reflected fondly on the time Barack Obama was president. Though, she admitted to choosing John McCain over Obama in the 2008 election. “You would go days without thinking about the president,” she said of Obama.

This echoes a line similar to one Democrats have used on the campaign trail. Obama said something like it Wednesday in Philadelphia during a stump speech for Biden.

“And with Joe and Kamala at the helm, you’re not going to have to think about the crazy things they said every day,” he said, according to CNN. “And that’s worth a lot. You’re not going to have to argue about them every day. It just won’t be so exhausting.”

Jennifer Lawrence joins a growing list of celebrities who are backing Biden.
