Gone but not forgotten is the legendary game show icon Alex Trebek who stood behind the “Jeopardy!” lectern for nearly four decades.

With the previous season over and filming for the new season ongoing, “Jeopardy!” has found a creative way to honor Alex Trebek. The heavily popular quiz show is taking viewers “around the world with Alex” this week. The series will see previously recorded episodes in which Trebek pops up in unusual places. Previously, we have seen Alex Trebek at a hockey game, Niagra Falls and even an appearance on children’s show “Sesame Street.” During his “Sesame Street” appearance, Trebek had a heart-to-heart with Elmo that was a delight for all to see. This week will feature several more exotic locations that Trebek has visited in the past. “Jeopardy!” plans to continue the “around the world with Alex” series for a good while.

“Jeopardy! Reruns: It’s week two of Around the World with Alex,” the social media post states. “Here is what’s on the itinerary!”

This week’s reruns will see Alex visiting Israel on Monday, Galapogas on Tuesday and Petra on Thursday. In addition to these stops, Trebek will don an opera costume Wednesday and visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture on Friday.

‘Jeopardy!’ Watchers Happy To See Alex Trebek Reruns

“Jeopardy!” fans are happy that the show is paying tribute to its long-time host and the value he brought to it. Several watchers say they will be tuning in this week to watch the classic Alex Trebek moments.

“Just re-air the 37 years worth of episodes featuring Alex,” a fan writes. “Enough of this revolving door of guest hosts already. Alex can never be replaced.”

I miss him so much,” another fan writes in the post’s replies. “The world got a little darker when he went.”

“I am loving all of the old episodes with Alex in them,” another “Jeopardy!” fan writes. “It should remind us all of why we love the show.”

For 37 years, Alex Trebek oversaw the game he loved from behind the host’s podium. Full of charm, grace and intelligence, Trebek was a treasure that will not soon be forgotten. He was the ideal host for a game show that places intellectuals in a competition for the whole world to see.

After a lengthy battle with stage four pancreatic cancer, Alex Trebek passed away way in November of last year. He was 80 years old at the time of his death and went peacefully surrounded by friends and family. In true Alex Trebek fashion, he hosted his beloved game show right up until the end. He recorded his finals episodes just days before his passing.

“Jeopardy!” is now in the process of finding a replacement for Trebek and it has proven difficult — to say the least.
