‘Jeopardy!’: Aaron Rodgers Speaks Out on Bringing a ‘Little Bit of Class,’ Doesn’t Rule Out Going Full-Time

Green Bay Packers quarterback and the current guest host of Jeopardy! Aaron Rodgers still has yet to rule out becoming the full-time host of the popular game show.

Rodgers recently made time to talk with Pat McAfee on a Twitter Spaces chat on Twitter. The two are certainly no strangers to each other. Rodgers even has his own weekly segment on The Pat McAfee Show, which airs on YouTube and SiriusXM Radio.

With tonight wrapping up Aaron Rodgers’ stint as the guest host of Jeopardy!, we were all anxious to know what he thought of being behind the iconic lectern.

“There was something really special being behind the podium,” Rodgers said. “It’s a different vantage point. I put a lot of pressure on myself I really wanted to do it right. I felt like that was the best way to honor Alex’s memory, and I’ve said that a few times and I really mean it.”

And Rodgers isn’t kidding around when he says he “means it.” The star quarterback prepared to host the show like he was game-planning for an opposing defense. He studied meticulously for hours on end in addition to taking a ton of notes. He says it is because of how much pride he has for the show and the legacy of Alex Trebek.

“It’s why I studied hard and I felt a lot of pride,” Rodgers admits. “I got to work with his people, his hair and makeup ladies, the security guard who worked there for years. There was something, that little bit of class that I really wanted to bring to the show. The response has been really positive.”

Aaron Rodgers Doesn’t Rule Out Full-Time Role as ‘Jeopardy!’ Host

While we all wanted to hear Rodgers talk about being a host on the show, we also were clamoring to know whether or not he is open to becoming the full-time host of Jeopardy! if offered the job. Based on his previous statements, it seems like by all indications he is.

However, he would have to be offered the job first. On Friday, Rodgers told McAfee that he wasn’t quite sure if he was in the mix to officially replace Alex Trebek.

“I don’t know what happens after this, if I’m really in the mix or not,” Rodgers said.

But with all of that said, just a couple of days ago Rodgers posted a photo on Instagram showing him as both the Packers quarterback and as Jeopardy! host. In addition, he has also insisted that he would have time for both football and Jeopardy!.

“Caption this…#itcouldhappen #icandoit #trebek” Rodgers wrote alongside the photo.

There’s no doubt that Rodgers has impressed during his run as guest host. But it will likely be a while before anyone decisions are made as to who the next full-time host is.
