We all kind of figured that sooner or later Aaron Rodgers was going to make a “Turd Ferguson” reference during his stint as guest host of Jeopardy!

And, well, it turns out that it would only take two days for that to actually happen. The Green Bay Packers quarterback dropped a Turd Ferguson reference on just his second night as guest host of the iconic game show.

The moment took place during the contestant chat on Tuesday evening. Rodgers was having an exchange with returning champ Brandon Deutsch.

“It says here when you were four months old Burt Reynolds — or was it Turd Ferguson — was holding you at some point?” Rodgers asked.

The name stems back from a Celebrity Jeopardy! sketch on Saturday Night Live. In the original SNL skit, Norm Macdonald’s Burt Reynolds character changed his name on the podium to Turd Ferguson.

And to add to things, even more, the reigning NFL MVP had his own “Turd Ferguson” moment back in 2015. On an episode of Celebrity Jeopardy!, Rodgers wrote down “Who Is Turd Ferguson” for Final Jeopardy! during the rehearsal. He went on to win that show.

“Had a blast on @Jeopardy checking off another bucket list item,” Rodgers tweeted after his victory. “Should have said turd ferguson on final jeopardy though.”

Meanwhile, Rodgers took to Twitter on Tuesday night to acknowledge his full-circle moment.

“It’s a funny name,” the All-Pro quarterback tweeted on Tuesday night.

Shailene Woodley is Pushing Aaron Rodgers Toward Full Time Job as ‘Jeopardy!’ Host

Despite only being two days into his two-week stint as the guest host of Jeopardy!, Aaron Rodgers’ fiancee Shailene Woodley thinks he should be the one to succeed long-time host, Alex Trebek. And according to Rodgers himself, he is not shy about saying that he wants the job.

“I don’t think I’d need to give up football to do it. They film 46 days a year,” Rodgers said. “I worked 187 this year in Green Bay. That gives me 178 days to do ‘Jeopardy!’ So I feel like I could fit 46 into that 178 and make it work. It would be a dream job for sure. And I’m not shy at all about saying I want the job.”

Jeopardy! has been without a permanent host since Trebek passed away last November. Instead, the popular game show has turned to a series of guests for the time being. But eventually, we have to assume that they will want to have someone permanently behind the podium. And Rodgers and his soon-to-be wife both think that he is up for the task.
