Aaron Rodgers is starting his guest-hosting gig on Jeopardy! this coming Monday, April 5. He is one of the more highly anticipated hosts for this season. More importantly, he has been preparing for his role for a while now.

It also marks the end of Dr. Oz’s run as the guest host of Jeopardy! For many, this is an exciting thing as he was an incredibly controversial host. Nonetheless, Rodgers has been looking forward to this role for a while. That being said, though, he was very nervous to take the stage as the host instead of as a contestant.

This is certainly something that comes with the territory of being the host. Rodgers has been on the show during an episode of “Celebrity Jeopardy! back in 2015. But, being the host is a lot of new responsibility. More than anyone, he knows this exceptionally well.

Consequently, he has been working hard to be as prepared as possible to be giving the clues. In an interview with ESPN, Rodgers explains how much work he has been putting in for Jeopardy!

“I watched hours and hours and hours of episodes. Luckily, Netflix has a few seasons, and I went back to DVR. But I had to watch from a different perspective – from Alex’s perspective. I couldn’t watch it as a fan anymore.”

Being a guest host on Jeopardy! comes with some big shoes to fill. Alex Trebek hosted the show for 37 years, so Rodgers knows exactly what the show has in store for him. His preparation speaks volumes for what he will hopefully bring to the show.

“I took pages and pages and pages of notes. I wrote down every affirmative that he said to any type of clue. I wrote down how he would respond if they didn’t get it right. I wrote down beat points of the show. I wrote down all the different ways he would take it to break. I wrote down the stuff that he said coming out of [the] break. Literally, I studied for this like no other. I wanted to absolutely just crush it.”

Rodgers is undoubtedly looking forward to his guest-hosting role on Jeopardy! Hopefully, he and the fans of the show will enjoy his two weeks as the host.
