Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is returning to the “Jeopardy!” lectern once again to play guest host with a special twist.

No, Rodgers hasn’t landed that coveted permanent hosting gig yet. But the athlete will guest star on one of the last two episodes of “The Conners” instead. During the episode, he will play “Jeopardy!” host once again. Jackie winds up on the show, not only chasing after big budgets but also Rodgers’ affection.

The iconic sitcom character flirts with the quarterback and “Jeopardy!” guest host in a teaser for the episode. But for his part, Rodgers appears clueless about Aunt Jackie’s advances. During the clip, she says, “Aaron Rodgers, this — I’ve been feeling some obvious chemistry here.”

A dumbfound Rodgers responds, “Between who and who?”

Jackie excitedly follows up, “We’re really going to do this?!”

Aaron Rodgers on ‘Jeopardy!’

“Jeopardy!” fans probably shouldn’t take the guest appearance as an indicator Rodgers will land that permanent guest hosting gig. Most likely, producers filmed the guest appearance during the two weeks that Rodgers was hosting the show.

But it will be fun for fans to see Rodgers back as guest host, even if its on another show. Since late host Alex Trebek passed away last year, the show has employed a revolving door of guest hosts. CNN host Anderson Cooper followed up Rodgers, and there’s still a host of celebrities left to take the podium.

But Rodgers has been vocal about wanting to host “Jeopardy!” on a full-time basis. The athlete didn’t plan to quit football either to do so.

“No, I’m not going to [quit football]. I just won MVP, I still have a lot left in the tank,” Rodgers explained. “I’m still going to play, and I’d love to host ‘Jeopardy!’ at the same time. ‘Jeopardy!’ films five shows a day, 46 days a year. That’s 230 episodes. And I work for six months out of the year. So the other six months, I would have time to probably film 46 days I think.”

But recently, Rodgers’ name has been in the news for his NFL drama. The quarterback is reportedly unhappy with Green Bay, and how things went down at the draft this year. Now, Rodgers wants out of his contract to play with the team. But the Packers aren’t keen on losing their longtime quarterback and golden boy.

It seems there’s a lot up in the air right now regarding Rodgers’ career. It remains to be seen if he becomes the “Jeopardy!” host.
