Sadly, this is the very first Father’s Day without Alex Trebek. The iconic “Jeopardy!” game show host passed away in November after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
He left behind three kids as well as his wife, Jean Trebek.
One of his kids is Nicky. Trebek was first married to broadcaster Elaine Callei in 1974. The couple had no children together, but Callei had a daughter from a previous relationship. Trebek actually adopted Nicky while the two were married. They divorced in 1981.
Now, Nicky is talking about just how much she misses the charming and charismatic Alex Trebek. She posted a sweet family photo on Instagram captioned, “Seems like a minute ago #missingyou #trebekgang #dadlove.”
The photo features Trebek’s two other children — Matthew and Emily. At the center of it all is Alex Trebek looking beyond happy and wearing a sharp-looking white blazer.
Nicky Trebek also recently shared a picture alongside her father a few months ago. She wrote about the day he announced his diagnosis to the entire world on “Jeopardy!” She wrote, “It was 2 years ago today while we were working on the @jeopardy set that my dad bravely stepped out in front of the camera to announce he had been diagnosed with #pancreaticcancer. He brought much-needed #awareness to this terrible disease and provided #hope to so many struggling. I’m beyond proud of him for his courage and integrity throughout his illness.”
He shared his diagnosis in March 2019 and vowed to fight stage 4 pancreatic cancer while also still appearing as the host of his favorite show.

Honoring ‘Jeopardy!’ Icon
Nicky Trebek has been doing several things to honor her late father. One of which was participating in the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s Los Angeles Purple Stride Walk. Individuals walk in order to raise both money and awareness for the disease.
“I’m doing this to honor my dad…and to also wage hope for other people struggling with [pancreatic cancer] … I just want to carry on his legacy, honor his fight,” Nicky Trebek said on “CBS This Morning.”
The Trebek family also donated a huge portion of Alex Trebek’s wardrobe to The Doe Fund. This is an organization that provides paid transitional work, educational opportunities, and gives job training and counseling to those who have been either incarcerated, homeless, or was a victim of substance abuse.
