‘Jeopardy!’ Drops Amazing Photo of Alex Trebek on a Camel During Trip to Jordan

by John Jamison

It’s safe to say “Jeopardy!” fans are missing Alex Trebek right now. With all of the drama surrounding the search for his permanent replacement, his wholesome presence would be more than welcome. But even though the legendary game show host is no longer with us, the memory of him remains. And a picture is worth a thousand words.

The official “Jeopardy!” account posted a series of photographs showing Alex Trebek himself on a journey through the Kingdom of Jordan.

“Producer Note: It was at Petra that Alex took it upon himself to educate the crew on the finer points of camel riding,” the caption began.

Yeah… the “Jeopardy!” replacement host is going to have some big shoes to fill. What other game show host is capable of serving up looks like this on camelback in the Middle East?

Alex Trebek is pictured among the ruins of Petra. An ancient city storied to be a major metropolis of the ancient world. The architecture against the desert backdrop is stunning. And with the historical significance, it’s no wonder Alex Trebek made it one of his destinations.

“Jeopardy!” fans were feeling all of the emotions upon seeing the pictures of their late, beloved host.

“They really can’t replace Alex – one of a kind – but please choose someone with integrity and respect for the game,” one fan replied.

“A smart and joyful man, our Alex. He is missed,” another added.

“Just irreplaceable…I am listening to Alex’s book as read by Ken Jennings. Such an interesting life and a very good man,” a loyal fan wrote.

An interesting life, indeed. As Sony and “Jeopardy!” continue searching for a worthy replacement, pictures like these are bittersweet.

The ‘Jeopardy!’ Replacement Host Will Forever Live in Alex Trebek’s Shadow

Last week, the official “Jeopardy!” Twitter account shared another heartwarming series of photos with Alex Trebek at Machu Picchu in the mountains of Peru.

Trebek’s worldliness aside, fans couldn’t get away from the ongoing replacement host debacle in the comments. Alex Trebek had such an impact on “Jeopardy!” fans that they won’t settle for anyone less than perfect in the host position.

Clearly, that person is not Mike Richards. But the rabid nature of the comment sections, even for posts intended as remembrances of Trebek, suggests that whoever is chosen will have their work cut out for them.

Indeed, the search is no longer for a true “replacement.” But rather, for someone capable of running the games effectively, who will not tear the “Jeopardy!” community apart. It is clear by now that even someone like Ken Jennings, beloved by a majority of the fans, will never have unanimous support.

While stepping in as the host of “Jeopardy!” will be an amazing opportunity for whoever is chosen, it’s not the most enviable job on the planet.
