Jeopardy! brought together Cohen and the three contestants for an interview the game show called “Champ Talk.” They all dished on their various experiences on the trivia show over the last two weeks. With the tournament dwindled down to the last three players out of 15, a new champion will be crowned on Friday.
There’s a lot on the line over the next two nights. Tonight’s episode begins a two-day finals playoff for the Grand Champion title. The three finalists will also be vying for a $250,000 grand prize. In addition, the game show will match the winnings and donate them to a great cause. The proceeds will go to the Hope of the Valley Trebek Center for the Homeless, which was created in Alex Trebek‘s name after his passing.
During the interview, the conversation turned to Cohen and his unique perspective as a former champion and guest host. Jeopardy! champions have often created a bond with one another through their shared experiences on the game show. It isn’t uncommon to find Cohen chopping it up with past winners on social media. Former champs like Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer, Brad Rutter, and Cohen frequently comment on each other’s posts.
“It’s such a special community of people,” Buzzy Cohen explained in the interview. “I’m just honored to be a part of it. And I’m honored to be part of this part of all of your stories because you’re all fantastic players.”
‘Jeopardy!’ Champions Joke Around on Twitter Over How They’re Dressed in Recent Post
If you need an example of the former champions interacting with one another, look no further than a recent post from earlier today. Current Jeopardy! guest host and former champion Buzzy Cohen revealed “The Belt” with some help from James Holzhauer. The WWE-style championship belt will be given to the next Tournament of Champions winner.
Holzhauer joined Cohen recently to show off his personalized 2019 Jeopardy! Champion belt. The two former champs held up the prized belt for all to see as they smiled for the camera. Of course, a new champion will be named on Friday, and will also be the lucky recipient of their own championship belt.
Not long after Cohen posted the photo, Ken Jennings chimed in on the tweet. Jennings, who still owns a 74-game win streak Jeopardy! record, commented that the two men “both wore your nicest outfit!”
Cohen is almost always dressed to a tee when making appearances, even on social media. Therefore his suit and tie in the photo comes as no surprise. But Holzhauer took a more casual approach in blue jeans and a light jacket.
“Commensurate to the perceived importance of the moment,” Cohen hilariously responded to Jennings.
Holzhauer got in on the fun by simply stating,”Not true.” He also shared arguably his most amusing Jeopardy! outfit to date. In May 2020, Holzhauer went “Avril Lavigne circa 2002” during a virtual interview. White V-neck undershirt, blazer, and tie around the neck. Maybe not his best choice, but at least he’s a good sport about it.
