‘Jeopardy!’ Celebrates Jonathan Fisher’s Historic Accomplishment

“Jeopardy!” returns tonight, and many fans can’t wait to see if 10-day champion Jonathan Fisher’s win streak will continue.

A few weeks ago, Fisher upset the legendary 38-day champ, Matt Amodio. Fans couldn’t believe it when Amodio’s historic run came to an end. And now, they can’t believe how well his successor also seems to be doing on the game show.

The official “Jeopardy!” Twitter account sent out a post earlier today to remind fans to tune in and watch Fisher on tonight’s episode. They also mentioned how he and Amodio made history this month.

“It’s the first time in Jeopardy! history that we’ve had back-to-back double-digit champs! Will Jonathan continue his impressive run?” the caption on the post reads.

Last week, Fisher won his 10th consecutive game, following in the footsteps of Amodio’s 38 games. It’s hard to say at this point whether Fisher will overtake the Yale Ph.D. candidate or not. But he could potentially overtake the last spot on the “Jeopardy!” Hall of Fame leaderboard.

At this point in time, Arthur Chu holds 10th place for consecutive wins, after his 11-game win streak in 2014. If Fisher wins tonight, he’ll tie Chu’s record, overtaking it if he wins tomorrow. He also has a strong shot of landing in the 10th spot for the highest regular-season earnings.

After 10 games, Fisher accumulated $230,100 in “Jeopardy!” winnings. Seth Wilson currently holds the last spot on the leaderboard for overall winnings at $265,002. Earning over $30,000 in one game might be a bit of a stretch for Fisher, who seems to average between $15-20k per game.

But this is “Jeopardy!”, and anything’s possible on the beloved game show.

Former ‘Jeopardy!’ Champ Matt Amodio Keeps It Classy While Congratulating Jonathan Fisher

When Fisher first won his 10th game last Friday, “Jeopardy!” posted a celebratory announcement on Twitter to congratulate him.

“It’s the season of the super champs! For the first time in Jeopardy! history, we have back-to-back double-digit champions,” the game show captioned the post. Several people soon chimed in with their own congrats for the contestant, including former champion Matt Amodio.

“Way to go, @JFishtheDish!” Amodio said. No bad blood, no resentment for losing a legendary streak. Pure class.

When people saw the post, they also talked about how they can’t wait for these two to battle it out in the upcoming Tournament of Champions. There’s no guarantee the two ould compete together during the same round, but they’ll definitely both be in attendance.

“This is going to be an epic ToC rematch,” one fan wrote.

“I want a Tournament of Champions rematch between @AmodioMatt and @JFishtheDish so badly. In the final, of course. Would probably be the best rematch in @Jeopardy history. (Well, in the non-Jennings vs. Rutter category),” another fan commented.

Tune into “Jeopardy!” tonight to see if Jonathan Fisher extends his streak and keeps making history.
