‘Jeopardy!’ Challenges Fans to Solve ‘Famous Masterpiece’ on Anderson Cooper’s First Night as Guest Host

While the hosts continue to change, Jeopardy! remains steadfast in its mission to provide interesting factoids for public consumption.

Journalist Anderson Cooper now has the Jeopardy! hosting reigns and will continue in the role for the next two weeks. His tenure as host is off to a good start with Monday’s episode, his first of 10 episodes. During his first appearance on the show, Final Jeopardy! saw the category switch to paintings as contestants wagered their guesses.

Jeopardy! took to social media to give fans a shot at solving a puzzle about famous paintings. The Instagram post asks fans to identify an infamous painting based on only a few clues about the work of art. They also offer up a helpful hint to give social media users an advantage in figuring out the answer.

“You have likely seen this famous masterpiece before!” the Jeopardy! social media post says.

Jeopardy! Gives Fans a Challenging Clue on Social Media

The social media image then reveals the clue and asks social media users if they can identify the correct answer.

“The New York Times noted, “balls of orange and yellow light” and “the town off in the distance” from the artist’s window in this piece. The correct answer to the clue is “What is Starry Night?”

That’s right if you were a Vincent Van Gogh fan then you probably guessed right. Many consider the artwork to be one of Van Gogh’s most famous and signature works. The artwork is currently on display in New York City. Several commenters were able to correctly solve the clue with the correct answer.

One episode into his two-week tenure, Cooper’s turn as Jeopardy! guest host is off to an excellent start. The long-time journalist and news anchor is a natural behind the podium. His stint comes on the heels of an excellent run by Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The reigning NFL Most Valuable Player drew rave reviews for his two-week performance. Rodgers also hasn’t shy about expressing his desire to take on the permanent job once Jeopardy! officials decide to go that route.

Once Cooper finishes his stint as Jeopardy! celebrity guest host, he will hand off to fellow journalist Bill Whitaker. Others awaiting their turn to host the show are actress Mayim Bialik, journalist Savannah Guthrie and Dr. Sanjay Gupta. The show will eventually pick a permanent host.
