Reigning “Jeopardy!” champion Matt Amodio did what he does best on Friday and took yet another huge victory, extending his streak.
Not only does Amodio continue to win his “Jeopardy!” matchups — he dominates them as well. Things got a little hairy in last night’s episode by the champ pulled through for a big win. Friday’s night win puts his winning streak to 18 straight victories on the popular quiz show. The win ensures that Amodio will return as the reigning champion when the new season of “Jeopardy!” begins in the near future.
Amodio ends the season as the third highest-earning champion in the game show’s history with well over $500,000. While that is more than impressive, Amodio has a ways to go before catching the top two. Those top two spots belong to game show icons James Holzhauer and the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All-Time) Ken Jennings. Both Holzhauer and Jennings surpassed the $2 million mark during their time on the show.
One thing that is for sure — Amodio is going to give it his best shot to catch up those the two “Jeopardy!” legends. While standing behind his podium, Amodio comes off as a regular, quirky yet humble guy. He is, however, fiercely competitive when the lights go up. After his most recent win, the champ took to social media to encourage “Jeopardy!” fans to watch him continue his winning ways. He suggests taking a whole day off when the game show returns in mid-September.
“September 14,” Amodio says of the new season starting date. “Start planning your excuse for taking the whole day off right now.”

He is correctly answering clues at a staggering 91 percent, meaning he is able to nail 9 out of 10 questions he buzzes in on. His average margin of victory is an insane $23,000 as he’s yet to really be challenged by a fellow “Jeopardy!” contestant. His 18 wins rank fifth on the all-time wins list and he will soon be aiming for more when the show returns on September 13.
