At the beginning of last year the long-running game show Jeopardy! began its search for a new host.
To do this, the iconic answer-question quiz show invited a bevy of guest celebrity hosts to step up behind the Jeopardy! host podium that longtime host, the late Alex Trebek, stood behind for nearly forty years.
Now, current Jeopardy! champion Amy Schneider has shared which of these hosts she would love to see hosting while she competes on the show.
Eventually, Jeopardy! showrunners named executive producer Mike Richards to fill the role permanently.
However, some controversial comments made by Richards soon resurfaced and he was let go from the hosting duties just as they had begun. Now, the iconic game show is hosted by two former guest-hosts Mayim Bialik and Ken Jenning in a revolving schedule.
So, who is it among the multiple guest Jeopardy! host that the current champion would like to see hosting the show again?
“I like Levar Burton,” Amy Schneider says.
“I had said years ago he ought to be the next host,” the champion explains. “But I understand he wasn’t as solid as he and I had hoped he would be and I get that.”
‘Jeopardy!’ Champ Discusses Guest Hosts
Schneider went on to note that Levar Burton was one of the few Jeopardy! guest hosts she watched over the last year. This, the Jeopardy! player says, is because the rotations were a little hard to get used to.
“I didn’t actually watch a ton of the guest hosts,” Schneider explains in a recent interview with Newsweek.
“It felt really weird because everyone was in their first couple weeks hosting it,” Schneider adds. “So seeing somebody new and slightly uncomfortable every time.”
When Levar Burton stepped in to take over Jeopardy! hosting duties earlier this year, the actor had already made it clear he would be interested in taking over the duties permanently.
However, Burton has recently announced that he is no longer interested in the Jeopardy! hosting gig. The star has recently taken on the role of host in a brand-new game show that will be based on Trivial Pursuit.
Now, Jeopardy! fans continue to wait for the final word on which of the current two hosts will eventually take on the role full-time. This, Schneider says, is something she is fine with.
“I will say that when they said it was gonna be Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik for a while, I was quite happy with that decision,” the champ says. “I like both of them.”
