It’s been about a week since “Jeopardy!” champion, Matt Amodio, saw an end to his 38-game winning streak. Nevertheless, in the time since his loss, the contestant has demonstrated much grace surrounding new reigning champ, Jonathan Fisher. Now, as this season of the hit game show continues without the “Jeopardy!” icon, Amodio shared an emotional post regarding his loss. Fortunately for the beloved contestant, however, it appears our previously reigning champ has quite a fanbase supporting him.
The contestant’s October 17th Twitter post revealed Amodio has struggled readjusting to “normal” life following his leave from the “Jeopardy!” set. He pointed out that the Monday night episode was the first since early this summer that he doesn’t know the course of events. “I’ve forgotten how to do this part,” he wrote.
Tomorrow starts the first week of #Jeopardy since July where I don’t know the future. I’ve forgotten how to do this part.— Matt Amodio (@AmodioMatt) October 17, 2021
Do I just watch what happens on TV, and instead of pretending that it’s new to me, it is actually new to me? Weird.
After such a long streak, we’re sure readjustment is difficult. It wasn’t long, though, before fans shared an outpouring of love and emotional support for the beloved contestant. Yahoo! shared that many “Jeopardy!”” fans emphasized how proud they were of him and that they looked forward to seeing his return during next season’s Tournament of Champions.
“CONGRATULATIONS on your 38 game winning streak,” wrote one Matt Amodio fan. “It was awesome watching your incredible run each night!”
“It is a weird transition Matt🙂,” wrote another “Jeopardy!” fan. “But you have several thousand people in your corner, who are here to support you 100%.”
Matt Amodio Demonstrates Grace Cheering on Current ‘Jeopardy!’ Champ
When “Jeopardy!” celebrity Matt Amodio first kicked off his winning streak earlier this summer, many game show fans resented the contestant’s unpopular method in answering questions. However, soon enough, they adjusted or accepted the quirk, many actually falling to Amodio’s side later in the season. Now, the “Jeopardy!” contestant walks away from the show with an impressive winning of more than $1.5 million.
Since his defeat, Amodio has demonstrated admirable grace and sportsmanship. He previously shared he has no plans to spend his money carelessly, his only plans consisting of buying a house. Now, several episodes into new reigning champ Jonathan Fisher’s streak, Amodio is cheering on the man who defeated him.
Several days following his defeat, Fisher now boasts a six-game winning streak, a feat even the show’s host, Mayim Bialik, predicted at the time of Amodio’s defeat. “Is this the beginning of a new streak?” Bialik proposed.
As far as Amodio goes, his latest support post came during Fisher’s sixth win. He shared on his Twitter page, “Way to keep it rolling, @JFishtheDish!”
While Amodio follows along with “Jeopardy!” from the sidelines, many fans hope to see the previous champ return in a rematch with Fisher during the Tournament of Champions.
