Jeopardy! fans are lighting up social media with brilliant tributes to young, late Brayden Smith, a champion gone too soon.

Fans of “America’s Quiz Show” will forever remember Brayden Smith as the winner of five straight Jeopardy! matches in 2020. He qualified, like those present for episodes currently airing, to participate in 2021’s Tournament of Champions.

Tragically, Brayden Smith would pass at the terribly young age of 24 before getting the chance. Smith died on February 5 after complications from surgery. Yet he is not forgotten.

Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions guest host Buzzy Cohen sang the late champion’s praises on Friday, May 21’s entry in the tournament. His heartfelt words moved Brayden’s mother, Debbie, to praise such a “formidable group of Champs.”

“Our family is deeply touched by Jeopardy’s Tournament of Champions tribute to Brayden and its pledge to support the Brayden Smith Memorial Fund,” Debbie Smith tweets Friday. “What a formidable group of Champs. Brayden would feel honored to be counted among you.”

Now, Jeopardy! fans are pouring in their condolences and praises of young Brayden Smith. His presence, to say the least, will be sorely missed in 2021’s champion race.

“My deepest condolences on the loss of your dear son, Brayden,” replies viewer Mary Anne. “When I heard the news today on Jeopardy, I was sad. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless the Smith Family always.”

Jeopardy! Fans Are World-Class

“Glad that you’re doing this. So sad for Brayden Smith. Gone too soon,” says follower Agnes of Buzzy Cohen‘s perfect tribute. A lesser host would not have thought to make such a touching move, indeed.

Allison of Colorado adds “I may have teared up a bit during tonight’s Jeopardy. Brayden Smith’s family and friends are in my thoughts.”

“I loved the tribute to the late Brayden Smith,” echoes Chidike Okeem. “He probably would have won the Tournament of Champions. R.I.P.”

Outsider definitely thinks he had an excellent shot, too. As does Mike Smith, who says: “Sad to hear that #Jeopardy contestant Brayden Smith passed away. He was a memorable player, and would have been my dark horse pick in the TOC.”

Above all, Jeopardy!‘s Brayden Smith was, as another viewer puts it, “A young brilliant mind gone much too soon… I enjoyed watching all of his appearances! Awesome player. Rest in Peace, Brayden Smith.”

Our condolences to the Smith family from all of us here at Outsider.
