‘Jeopardy’: Dr. Oz Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Look at Alex Trebek’s Amazing Wall Dedicated to Fan Gifts

Dr. Oz has been making the most of his time as a guest host on “Jeopardy!” Today he posted a video to Instagram, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the studio. The TV personality has been criticized throughout his two-week stint as the “Jeopardy!” host, but his respect for the late Alex Trebek is undeniable.

The Instagram video shows us the hallway where the long-running TV show keeps all of the Emmy awards they have won over the years. Then, Dr. Oz talks about the last time he was with the legendary “Jeopardy!” host, Alex Trebek.

He tells a story about how Alex wanted to show him something. Dr. Oz assumed it was the wall of Emmy awards. Instead, Alex brought him to another wall. This one contains what appears to be hundreds of letters, items, and well-wishes sent to Trebek, urging him on in his fight against pancreatic cancer.

Oz says he still gets “goosebumps” thinking about the moment. He went on to describe how this appreciative part of Alex was his real legacy. Adding that it is what made him “such an incredible human being.”

Dr. Oz and Alex Trebek Were Close

Many don’t realize that Alex Trebek and Dr. Oz developed a friendship over the years. In fact, it is one of the reasons Oz is guest hosting in the first place. “Jeopardy!” has been trying its best to honor the legacy of Alex Trebek by bringing on people who have connections to the show.

The first guest host was Ken Jennings, the greatest “Jeopardy!” player of all time turned author and TV personality. He also seems to be the favorite for the permanent spot which is seemingly up for grabs.

Following Ken were Mike Richards, a producer on the show, and Katie Couric, the acclaimed journalist.

Clearly, the standard has been set extremely high, and it seems the common denominator between all these people is their passion for the game and their admiration for Alex Trebek.

Moving forward, Aaron Rodgers, Anderson Cooper, and Savannah Guthrie are slated to rotate in as guest hosts, with many more to come.
