“Jeopardy!” fans’ response to last night’s “Final Jeopardy!” question about the Ohio State University caused the Big Ten school to clap back in a hilarious Instagram comment.
The game show spent all week hyping up seven-time champion Courtney Shah, who’s appearing for the eighth time on tonight’s show. She and the other two contestants easily aced last night’s final question, which read, “In 2019 this public university attempted to trademark the word ‘The” for use on clothing and hats.”
Shah cheekily answered, “What is THE Ohio State University?”
“Jeopardy!” posted Shah’s response to their social media pages, causing fans to comment on how the “Final Jeopardy!” question is supposed to be one of the most challenging in the game — and this one did not cut it.
Today, the Ohio State University decided to make their thoughts on the matter clear, so they responded to “Jeopardy!’s” Instagram page.
“People always ask what is THE Ohio State University, but never how is THE Ohio State University. ” the Big Ten school jokingly commented.
Almost 200 Instagram users liked the reply, sending it to the top of the comment section. OSU also quote tweeted the original “Jeopardy!” post on Twitter, using the same caption.
When fans finally started asking “how” the Big Ten School is doing, the university responded, “Encouraged and inspired by all the #BuckeyeLove today!”
‘Jeopardy!’ Guest Host Dr. Sanjay Gupta Supports the Ohio State University’s Rival
Last night, a few fans wondered how “Jeopardy” guest host Dr. Sanjay Gupta felt about reading the “Final Jeopardy!” clue. After all, Gupta is an alumnus of the University of Michigan, which is OSU’s rival school.
This afternoon, Gupta finally posted his thoughts on last night’s “too easy” final question.
“Go blue” is a classic cheer and catchphrase adopted by the University of Michigan, referencing their blue and yellow school colors. Several other Michigan and “Jeopardy!” fans repped the school on social media.
“Would I have risked my winnings by writing ‘GO BLUE?’ I hope so,” one user wrote.
“That one was too easy. I am a Michigan fan, so, quite frankly, when I hear ‘The’ Ohio State University, I always think, or say out loud, ‘Is there another Ohio State University?'” another tweeted.
Even fellow “Jeopardy!” contestant Brian Chang took to Twitter to show his Michigan support.
