‘Jeopardy!’: Fans Will See Alex Trebek One Final Time with Upcoming Movie Cameo

For “Jeopardy!” fans all around the world yearning to hear and see Alex Trebek one last time, your wishes have been granted.

Since he passed away in November after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, Trebek has left a massive hole in the hearts of millions of devoted trivia fans. The show has been scheduling famous guest hosts since his death.

However, this seems to be a daily reminder of the hilarious, sarcastic, and endearing personality of the late Alex Trebek. He hosted “Jeopardy!” for 37 years before he died at the age of 80. He stuck with the show all the way up until it was physically impossible to do so.

Each guest host has mentioned Trebek in some shape or form while hosting. It has kept the loss fresh since November.

Late ‘Jeopardy!’ Host Cameos in Upcoming Movie

Now, fans can see the beloved “Jeopardy!” icon in a cameo he filmed for Ryan Reynold’s film, “Free Guy.”

According to People, Reynolds spoke out about the longtime game show host in a touching tribute. He revealed that Trebek is appearing in his movie. However, the release date remains unclear as production has faced delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“Alex Trebek was kind enough to film a cameo for our film Free Guy last year despite his battle. He was gracious and funny. In addition to being curious, stalwart, generous, reassuring and of course, Canadian. We love you, Alex. And always will,” Reynolds wrote on his Twitter account to his 17.6 million followers.

The initial release for the film was supposed to be late May. The movie is about a man that discovers he’s actually a character inside of an open-world video game. Ryan Reynolds stars alongside Jodie Comer, Taika Waititi, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Joe Keery. The director is Shawn Levy. It’s from the same studio that brought “Deadpool” to the screen.

Reynolds has even said that, “‘Free Guy’ is my favorite movie I’ve ever made, and that means a lot to me because I made Deadpool,” according to IGN.

In a trailer for the movie from October 2020, Alex Trebek appears hosting “Jeopardy!” in his cameo.

He reads a clue related to Ryan Reynold’s character. The clue is, “This character in the video game Free City has been turning by being the good guy.”

The cameo and the movie trailer were just a month or so before his death. While he isn’t hosting a real or official “Jeopardy!” match, longtime fans of Trebek will take what they can get.

The new release date for “Free Guy” appears to be August 13. The movie has been delayed three times, but Reynolds and the crew have made fun of the unfortunate and uncontrollable situation.
