While Anderson Cooper is no stranger to the camera, he’s still pretty nervous about his upcoming “Jeopardy!” stint. This is according to a preview of his upcoming episodes which start tomorrow, April 19th.

“In High School, I became a Jeopardy fan. I’m a two-time celebrity jeopardy champ, and this week I’ll be the newest celebrity guest host. Now that’s what I call triple Jeopardy,” Cooper says. But even being a triple threat isn’t quite enough to calm the nerves.

During his time on the show, Anderson Cooper will be raising funds for the Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti. It’s an organization whose mission is to help those who live in Haiti’s Artibonite Valley get access to medical care. Aaron Rodgers, meanwhile, raised funds for the North Valley Community Foundation. Rodgers recently made his own donation to the foundation, helping provide relief to small, locally owned businesses.

It’s good to point out that these “guest-host” roles aren’t necessarily auditions. While Aaron Rodgers has made it very clear that he’d love to host full time, other guest hosts prefer their two-week stay. Anderson Cooper already has a very demanding job as a news anchor for CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 every weeknight.

Anderson Cooper and the Next Hosts: What’s Next for ‘Jeopardy!’

Cooper follows in the footsteps of guest host Aaron Rodgers. Cooper’s two weeks make him one of the many guest hosts Jeopardy is featuring this season. Other celebrities set to host include Savannah Guthrie and Mayim Bialik. The guest host rotation started after the tragic loss of Alex Trebek to pancreatic cancer on November 8th, 2020. His role as host spanned decades.

Aside from Anderson Cooper’s upcoming weeks, The Tournament of Champions is also just around the corner, with former champion Buzzy Cohen set to host. The special event will air from May 17th – May 28th. The event includes 15 former “Jeopardy!” winners who’ll compete for the prize of 250,000 dollars. During Cohen’s stint on “Jeopardy!,” he was a bit of a polarizing figure. It should be interesting to see how he hosts.

While some enjoy the “guest host” format, ratings are down. Many enjoyed “Jeopardy!” because of the consistent and trustworthy presence of Trebek. While it’ll be impossible to replace Trebek, most think it’s important for “Jeopardy!” to get a more permanent host sooner rather than later. Luckily, “Jeopardy!” Legend and former guest-host Ken Jennings has said that they’ll have a permanent host by “Jeopardy’s” next season. For now, you can enjoy Anderson Cooper’s stint on the iconic show.
