‘Jeopardy!’ Guest Host Dr. Sanjay Gupta Shares Heartfelt Message Saying He ‘Will Never Forget’ His Time As Host

It went by fast, but Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s two-week stint as the guest host of Jeopardy! has officially come to an end. As a result, Gupta took to social media to express how he is feeling.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta first stepped behind the iconic Jeopardy! lectern back on Monday, June 28. He is the latest in a long line of celebrity guest hosts on the show. Jeopardy! has turned to a rotating series of guest hosts after the passing of the show’s legendary, longtime host, Alex Trebek.

By now most fans know all about Dr. Sanjay Gupta. He is a renowned neurosurgeon and the chief of neurosurgery at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. But he is also the Chief Medical Correspondent for CNN. Dr. Gupta has made a difference in countless lives as a doctor, a reporter, and most recently, as the guest host of Jeopardy!. He says that he “will never forget” his two weeks hosting the show.

“After all these years, the most magical thing about @Jeopardy! is it brings my three teenage girls together almost every evening,” Gupta wrote on Twitter. “Thanks for the honor of these past two weeks. I will never forget them.”

Dr. Sanjay Gupta Sees Appeal in Becoming Full-Time ‘Jeopardy!’ Host

Dr. Sanjay Gupta may have a tough decision coming up ahead of him. In a recent interview with WBZ-TV news anchor David Wade, Gupta talked about whether or not he would consider becoming the full-time host of Jeopardy! if offered the job.

“Aaron Rodgers, NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion, comes out and says, ‘You know what, I kind of like hosting ‘Jeopardy!’ as much as I like playing football.’ He’s not sure which one he wants to do,” Wade says to Gupta. “So let me ask you, doctor, would you prefer to be the host of ‘Jeopardy!’ permanently or would you rather be doctor/medical correspondent?”

A man of many talents, Dr. Gupta refused to say whether or not he would consider the full-time hosting job. However, he says there is certainly an “appeal” to it.

“Well, you know, I have to tell you, it’s a really interesting question because I would have never thought this,” Gupta admitted. “I have been a lifelong fan and you don’t sort of put yourself into those shoes. But having done it — and no one has offered me the job or anything — I could absolutely see the appeal.”

Meanwhile, Jeopardy! fans have loved every second of seeing Dr. Gupta on stage. Many of them want him to consider taking on the full-time hosting duties.

“As a Canadian and fan of the late great Alex Trebek, I feel that you would be an amazing replacement as a host on ‘Jeopardy!’ one fan said.

“You were great!! If you weren’t a superior Doctor, I’d say they need you on ‘Jeopardy!’ full-time. BEST YET!!” another follower said. “BUT …we need you to stay in medicine.”
