By all accounts, things are going pretty well for “Jeopardy!” guest host Katie Couric these days. And, she decided to share her good news in a tweet on Friday (March 12).
So, what had the famous journalist and television personality in such a good mood? Well according to what she shared on Twitter, several factors have contributed to her current positive outlook. One is the completion of her new book. Another was raising funds for a charity near and dear to her heart thanks to her work on the popular quiz show. The other is appearing as an answer in a recent New York Times crossword puzzle.
Here’s what Katie Couric posted on Twitter on Friday: “Sometimes you have a really good week. I handed in the manuscript for my upcoming memoir, I got to raise money for @SU2C‘s pancreatic cancer dream team (thanks @jeopardy!) and the pièce de résistance is that I’m in today’s @nytimes crossword puzzle. Yay!”

Katie Couric’s supporters happily shared in her good news on Friday. They talked about it in their responses to her tweet.
“Congrats, Katie!! I am enjoying you as a guest host on @Jeopardy !! What was it like being on that end of the lectern??” one fan wanted to know.

Learn More About ‘Jeopardy!’ Guest Host Katie Couric’s Charity ‘Stand Up to Cancer’
According to Katie Couric’s tweet, her stint as a guest host on “Jeopardy!” has helped raise money for the Stand Up to Cancer Foundation. Couric is one of the founders of the organization.
According to the foundation’s website, the organization “works relentlessly to offer the newest, most effective, and most promising cancer treatments to patients quickly by bringing together the best minds to collaborate, innovate, and share cancer research.”
The devastation cancer can bring to a family is something Katie Couric sadly knows all too well. Her first husband, Jay Monahan, died from colon cancer when he was only 42 years old. The couple had two daughters together – Elinor, who was born in 1991, and Caroline, who was born in 1996.
Monahan was a big fan of “Jeopardy!” So, Katie Couric getting a chance to host the show – and raise money for cancer research in the process – brings things full circle for her. Also, Couric’s sister died of pancreatic cancer. This was the disease that also led to former “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek’s death in 2020.
“I love watching the show, and used to watch it all the time with my late husband (Jay Monahan) who was really good at it,” Couric reportedly told PEOPLE. “I watch it now with my current husband (John Molner), but I think it has a special place in my heart because Jay loved it so much. And I think he would’ve been a really good contestant.”
Other guest hosts are slated to stand behind the “Jeopardy!” podium in the near future. One of them is NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.
