Now with the annual Tournament of Champions in the rearview mirror, hit game show Jeopardy! has resumed regular play and episodes.
Jeopardy! also has a brand new guest host standing behind the lectern and feeding contestants clues. Most known for work film and television career, actress Mayim Bialik is now two episodes deep into her hosting tenure.
Bialik has been well received by Jeopardy! fans and contestants so far which is no surprise given her people skills. Though she plays the socially awkward but brilliant “nerd” Amy Farrah Fowler on the Big Bang Theory, Bialik has shown she can handle herself quite well. Pledging to bring respect and dignity to the position of Jeopardy! guest host, her interactions skills have been on full display. Jeopardy! producers took to social media on Tuesday to showcase how well she interacts with the show’s contestants.
“Mayim Bialik and the contestants discuss today’s final in this postgame chat,” the Jeopardy! Instagram post says.
Jeopardy! Host Mayim Bialik Chats Up Contestants
The Jeopardy! host chats it up with the contestants as they discuss exotic locations they have been too.
“Robin, have you been to Madagascar?” she asks a contestant.
Contestant Robin has not been to Madagascar but the question sends the conversations in an entertaining direction.
“It sounds like for your job that you get to go to sort of exciting places,” Bialik says.
Of course, bringing up Madagascar immediately conjures up images of the hit 2005 movie of the same name. Having the ability to pronounce difficult words and names of exotic countries, Robin thanks an unlikely source for the help.
“Thank goodness my kids making me watch Madagascar,” Robin jokes. Bialik and the other contestants burst into laughter at Robin’s hilarious revelation.
While Bialik is most known for her roles on “Big Bang Theory” and “Blossom,” she also has an interesting educational background. In addition to being an excellent actress, the Jeopardy! guest host also possesses a doctorate in neuroscience from UCLA. During her debut episode monologue, she spoke of her love for science and hopes her appearance will help others appreciate it as well.
Bialik is the eighth celebrity to appear on Jeopardy! behind the host’s lectern since the passing of Alex Trebek. She is only the second female to get a hosting opportunity so far, joining journalist Katie Couric. Journalist Savannah Guthrie is up next once Bialik completes her tenure next Friday.
Jeopardy! officials say they are hoping to choose a permanent host at some point later this year. They have kept their option close to the vest and there are several routes they could take. One of those routes just might be Mayim Bialik.
