Current “Jeopardy!” guest host Savannah Guthrie is doing a terrific job with the game show by most all accounts.
A journalist and television personality by trade, Guthrie is a natural behind the “Jeopardy!” hosting lectern. Intelligent and outgoing, she has also been a hit with the contestants who have enjoyed working with her. She will continue in the guest hosting position for the remainder of the week with her final episode coming Friday.
The reigning “Jeopardy!” host says he hasn’t got much interest in obtaining the full-time hosting role of the game show. That is because she has a wonderful day job as a weekday television host. Since 2012, she has been the primary co-anchor of the NBC News morning show, “Today.” Before landing her current role, Guthrie joined NBC New in 2007 as a legal correspondent. Her primary job was to cover ongoing legal trials across the country and report on them during NBC newscasts. Now, nearly 14 years later she is a household name for her work on “Today.”
On Tuesday, Savannah Guthrie took a moment from “Jeopardy!” to wish one of her co-workers a very special birthday. Carson Daly, Guthrie’s co-worker for several years now, is turning 48-years-old today. Guthrie took to social media to wish him a wonderful birthday and to share a few nice words about her friend and co-worker.
“If there were Emmys for friendship, he would have a room full,” Guthrie says in her social media post. “Carson Daly – happy birthday!”

Along with the sweet words about her co-worker, Guthrie also includes a photo of Daly looking glowingly at an Emmy Award. The second photo she shares shows her and Carson in their best “Grease” attire as they sing and dance together.
Several of the “Jeopardy” guest host’s social media followers also chime in with their own birthday wishes for Carson Daly. The Santa Monica, California native became a “Today” co-host only a few years ago. Before that promotion, he began hosting another NBC hit show, “The Voice,” in 2011. He and Guthrie have become great friends since both joined NBC.
Guthrie is the 10th celerity to take on “Jeopardy!” hosting duties since the passing of longtime host Alex Trebek. She is the third female to serve as the popular quiz show’s guest host, joining journalist Katie Couric and actress Mayim Bialik.
Each of the “Jeopardy!” guest hosts are raising money for the charity of their choice. Guthrie is collecting funds for “The Bowery Mission,” an organization that assists New York’s homeless population.
Guthrie will wrap up her tenure this Friday with her final episode. Dr. Sanjay Gupta will take the hosting reigns the following Monday and will be followed by journalist George Stephanopoulos.
