‘Jeopardy!’ Guest Host Savannah Guthrie Posts Special Message to Two ‘Smart’ Contestants

Savannah Guthrie has been enjoying her time as the guest host of Jeopardy!. And on Sunday, The Today Show anchor sent a special message to two of her contestants.

Guthrie prepared hard for her hosting duties on the popular game show. In fact, she said that she was preparing like it was her actual job. It was the same approach that longtime host Alex Trebek took during his legendary tenure on the show.

And it seems as though Guthrie’s contestants have taken notice. One of them, Elaine Filadelfo, says that Guthrie was not only a detailed guest host, but she also made the environment an enjoyable one for everybody. She first announced how excited she was to work with Guthrie last week.

“Now I can reveal that my guest host was the gracious, fantastic, @SavannahGuthrie!” Filadelfo wrote on Twitter. “I was originally scheduled to be on last year w Alex so wondered how it would feel, but she nailed it. I’ll share my fav Savannah story on Friday about a really kind moment I’ll never forget.”

Contestant Tells Favorite Savannah Guthrie ‘Jeopardy’ Story

Filadelfo held up her end of the bargain. On Friday, she took to Twitter once again to tell her favorite Savannah Guthrie Jeopardy! story.

“Now my fav @SavannahGuthrie story! When I said ‘ob-sec-quious’ she gently corrected it to ‘ob-see-quious’. (Normal for Jeop) Later she *apologized* & said she felt rude having to correct pronunciation but rules say so. A very human moment to make us feel comfortable and confident 💙”

Another contestant called himself “lucky” to be able to work with Guthrie.

“She was a very gracious host,” he said.

“Was so glad we got to work with her!” Filadelfo replied. “Great clue reading, and also created a really positive environment. I remember her being interested in your law school experience.”

“Yes we were lucky! She’s in my top 3 of the guest hosts and I’m obviously biased. Wish I could have talked with her more about her time at G’town Law.”

We aren’t sure if the two have been able to finish their Georgetown Law conversation. But that didn’t stop The Today Show co-anchor from taking to Twitter to express how much she enjoyed working with the contestants on Jeopardy!.

“I loved meeting BOTH of you smarties!! so fun,” Guthrie replied.

Although Guthrie has loved her time on the iconic game show, she does not want to include her name in the mix for the full-time hosting duties. Like some of the other guest hosts, she loved serving as a guest host for two weeks. But she is not ready to leave her job over at NBC.

“I loved it,” Guthrie explained in an exclusive Jeopardy! interview. “I had so much fun, but I have a day job.”
