Jeopardy guest host Savannah Guthrie admits that hosting the iconic game show is the most exciting moment of her career.

Savannah Guthrie is one of the most well-known names on television for being a legendary journalist. So the fact that she considers her time on Jeopardy as the most exciting moment of her career is kind of a big deal.

Professional Career

The 49-year-old anchor started her professional career as a journalist for an NBC affiliate in Missouri, Arizona, and Washington D.C. Guthrie decided to get her law degree and went back to school at Georgetown University.

Following graduation, she became a legal correspondent for Court TV, reports Biography. NBC then employed savannah Guthrie, however in 2011, she earned herself a job with the Today show. By July the following year, Guthrie was promoted to co-host, replacing Ann Curry. She has been a staple on the show ever since.

Well, Savannah Guthrie can now add Jeopardy! host to her resume. In an interview posted yesterday by the popular game show, fans get to know the woman that is usually doing the interviewing.

It turns out Savannah Guthrie really “loves” the show, along with everyone in her life. She also notes that this opportunity trumps all her other notable achievements.

Jeopardy! is iconic. It’s this legendary show. Everyone loves it- everyone I know that’s smart and thoughtful, and interesting loves Jeopardy!. Everyone I work with loves Jeopardy!. My family loves Jeopardy!. Of everything I’ve ever done in my career, honestly, hosting Jeopardy is the thing I think people are most excited about, and I am too.”

Even Savannah Guthrie Gets Nervous On Camera

However, even with all her experience behind the camera, Savannah Guthrie admits that she was still nervous prior to her hosting gig.

The journalist sat down with PEOPLE to dive a little deeper into these unforeseen butterflies.

“I was so nervous because I really just wanted to show how much respect I have for Jeopardy and Alex (Trebek)– who is a legend and an icon for a reason. He’s the maestro,” Guthrie explained. “And I know those Jeopardy fans are picky, but I have to say, I’m just the fill-in, so don’t worry!”

Although Savannah Guthrie didn’t just see this as another quick job, she took it seriously, studying up on some trivia she hopes to use again in the future.

“I was a terrible student until much later in life, so there’s just so much I don’t know in general,” the Today host said. “But, what I learned was how smart everyone at Jeopardy! is – especially the contestants and the writers. However, I studied really hard. I read everything ahead of time, and I hope some of those facts stay in my head so I can impress people at cocktail parties.”

Savannah Guthrie will appear on Jeopardy! from Monday, June 14, until June 25.
