On Wednesday (November 10th), Jeopardy! guest host Ken Jennings took to Twitter to show some love to the research team alongside a shoutout from the Irish Embassy.

One of tonight’s Jeopardy! clues read, “Cliodhna was the Queen of These Wailing Supernatural Entities in Irish Folklore.” The Irish Embassy tweeted a snapshot of the clue and wrote, “Another ‘what is banshee? Well done, Ken Jennings on your stellar pronunciation of this beautiful Irish name! Clíodhna is not only Queen of the Banshees but also the patron of County Cork”

The Jeopardy guest host gave credit where it was due by writing back with, “Thank you Irish Embassy but the crack Jeopardy pronunciation-researching staff deserve the credit here.”

As previously reported, Ken Jennings is currently covering Jeopardy! hosting duties. He and Mayim Bialik are hosting the iconic game show while the CBS network is searching for a permanent host.

Ken Jennings Recalls His Last Conversation With ‘Jeopardy!’ Icon Alex Trebek

Just a few months after Jeopardy! Legend Alex Trebek passed away from pancreatic cancer, Ken Jennings spoke to Good Morning America about the final conversation he had with the late game show host. “I spoke to him on the phone actually the weekend he passed and he was – he was frail but he was still very much Alex.”

The Jeopardy! guest host also shared that he remembered Trebek just being very confident in him to be a guest host if he ever needed that. “We were hoping we’d have him with us for longer. But I remember – I was reminded of the thing he always emphasized about the show. Which was he’s not the star of the show. You know, the host if not the star.

Jennings then stated that Trebek’s goal was to always make the show about the players and about the competition. “It’s just hard to imagine that in the TV landscape today, a star of his size saying, ‘Hey, the game is not about you.’ But that was great advice.”

Trebek passed away from pancreatic cancer on November 8, 2020. Jennings recently spoke about the special gift that Trebek’s wife, Jean, gave him before the first episode he guest-hosted. “The first day I came into guest host was just a few weeks after Alex had passed. And it was a really rough time. I got to the studio and one of the producers handed me a little box.”

Jean had notably given Jennings a pair of Trebek’s cuff links. Jennings described the gift as being a lovely gesture. “You know, at a time that was very hard for her family, dealing with a lot of grief and a lot of challenges, she thought about Jeopardy! And she thought about me. A person she had never even met. And I thought, ‘What a lovely thing to do.’ She’s fantastic.”
