Jeopardy! and football fans alike are getting excited because it’s time for quarterback Aaron Rodgers to take the stage as the game shows guest host.

Get out the chip, dip, and hot wings, because Sunday night… wait. This is a change.

Aaron Rodgers Is Warming Up

Aaron Rodgers will be trading in his uniform for a suit as he takes the Jeopardy! stage tonight, April 5, for his first night as host. Did you hear us? We repeat tonight!

The NFL MVP begins his two-week term as guest host at 5:00 p.m. CST on NBC.

Jeopardy! has been teasing the much-anticipated host with clips and quotes from Rodgers all week on their social media accounts.

Aaron Rodgers will be the fifth person to serve as host on the popular show. Other talented and notable names include Jeopardy! royalty Ken Jennings, executive producer Mike Richards, Today show host Katie Couric, and TV personality Dr. Oz.

After Rodgers’s two-week reign is over, the star-studded list continues. The will be TV personality Anderson Cooper, Today host Savannah Guthrie, actress Mayim Bialik, “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker, and CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

Too Excited to Keep Silent

Growing up such a dedicated viewer made this opportunity all the more special for Rodger. Prior to Jeopardy’s! announcement that he would serve as host, Rodger’s excitement got the best of him, and he jumped the gun on announcing the gig on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

“One of my idols growing up was Alex Trebek,” he said. “They’re doing some guest-hosting spots. It’s going to be released here pretty soon, but I have the opportunity to do one of those. I’m excited about that opportunity with ‘Jeopardy!'”

After realizing the premature announcement, Aaron Rodgers apologized during a press conference, saying he let his excitement get the best of him. Rodgers has been a loyal Jeopardy! fan for 16 years.

“I think I may have jumped the gun a little bit, so I apologize to ‘Jeopardy!’ if they wanted to announce it. I just got so excited on the show earlier. It kind of just went down the last couple of days, us figuring it out,” he continued. “It is very exciting. It’s for the offseason. We’ll be even more excited when that opportunity gets a little closer, but, man, the show has been so special to me over the years. It’s been a staple at my house here in Green Bay for the last 16 years — 6 o’clock watching Alex and trying to get as many questions as I can.”

Make sure you don’t miss a second of the football star’s debut tonight! It’s sure to be stellar!
