Jeopardy! icon Ken Jennings is on top of his Twitter game as usual with this latest tongue-in-cheek… Er, eyeball… tweet.
“European ads for American TV are so weird,” the All-Time-Champ posts to his official Twitter account Wednesday. Within, he provides a candid shot of a billboard hanging above a German cafe. And there is a giant eyeball at the center which proves all-consuming.
As to not ruin the joke for you, check out Jennings’ tweet for yourself below and see for yourself, Jeopardy! fans:
See what he did there? There’s plenty of This Is Us viewers in the Twitter audience, surely.
Insomniac Games’ James Stevenson replies in kind with: “Man they’re gonna make me wonder all season who loses their eyeball…”
Jeopardy fan Mia misses the point, however, with “Ads are equally weird here in America…”
So it’s a good thing that fan Justin nails it with: “In Germany, show watches YOU!”
Jennings definitely knows his half-a-million followers. Or, rather, those half-a-million people follow Ken because he’s so good at being himself. It’s why we love him, after all, and continue to hope he winds up Jeopardy!’s next permanent host. Keep those fingers crossed, Outsiders!
‘Jeopardy!’s Ken Jennings Keeps Old-School Twitter Alive
In the meantime, it’s always worthwhile to take a look back at the incomparable old-school Twitter game of one Ken Jennings.
After taking Jeopardy! for all it’s worth, the All-Time-Champ moved onto his next target: Twitter. And he continues to dominate it with his nerdy charm to this day. How? By keeping it simple, real, and to the point. Which is, after all, what the social media platform used to be.
Take this somewhat recent post from Jennings, for example:
Within, Ken says there’s “Lots of chill Greek gods, but for my money you can’t beat Sponde, the official goddess of “libations after lunch.”
Move over Dionysus. That’s one hell of a title! And as Ken often does, the Jeopardy! icon includes a screenshot from his research. In it, we see the definition of “Sponde” as follows:
Sponde: “Libations.” The goddess of the hour of libations (poured after lunch). She is one of the Horae.
For us Outsiders, all of the above goes to show that – whether he’s spatting brilliant, obscure pop culture references or traipsing the pantheon of Greek Gods, Jennings is Twitter at its finest. Period.
Jennings’ brain is the ultimate pop culture resource, it seems, and mythology was the original pop culture. So it all fits. Just like *ahem* Ken becoming the next permanent host of Jeopardy!
Long story short, if you’re a Twitter buff – you need to follow Ken Jennings. From Underhandedly Dissing Jeff Bezos to Hilariously Roasting Switzerland for Not Inventing Chocolate Fondue, the man is honestly a national treasure.
